4) No, but I could see it :P

I think you'll be ok with clubs dodgy - I've got a bag with quite a bulky head cover over the top that I saw a bit over Motor Show weekend given I brought it down with me, and I think that extra indentation on either side of the boot near the rear of the car could save you... it might (hopefully) give you enough width to get them in. One of my concerns also, so I might do some measurements... two or three I'm sure you'll be pushing it, although I have enough trouble using all the clubs in one bag effectively, let alone three
I too struggle with use of the almighty golf club! Would be nice to pack in a couple of mates for the trip down to the peninsula though. I think the Drivers will need to go in the back seat, and the 40 split might have to come into play as well.

PS: Chalk up another iPhone

My main concern ordering a car without having seen it in the flesh was how it'd look.

I was pleasantly surprised. It looks great. Despite being marginally shorter than a 3, it looks much more compact. In person, there is much more substance to the shape than a 2D picture can reveal. I walked around it heaps of times looking for a "bad angle", and couldn't find one. The side profile is just great. Front on, has the aggressive face you want in your car.

I was a bit disappointed with the Nav screen. Looks a bit cheap. Will probably be hard to see screen in bright sunshine too. On the dash and no "hood" to shield it. Being on the dash, you look across to it rather than down, which I think is nice. I will like the better iPod and phone information presented on the screen, rather than on a 2 line red LED. The "Favourite" buttons etc will also be handy, but the screen was the low point.

I wouldn't plan on carrying anything more than a 10yo or African Pigmy in the back seats though.

And true to BMW form, not sure I'll get my clubs into the boot, let alone 2 or 3 sets.

Overall. Awesome car. Can't wait.
Thanks for you impressions.

My friend rang me up from the show yesterday while he was sitting in the car and I got him to walk around and give me his impressions 'live'. I think the show car is not completely Aust spec as he said that the door sills didn't have M badges (they had BMW badges instead). There was an oil cooler though, and the sports seats had the extendible thigh support.

Anyway he said the colour looked great (which is important to me), and the car looks much better in the metal as you've mentioned.

Sigh.... 10 weeks to go.

I was thinking the boot was quite large and I am told the rear seats are folding?? I hope so, I have a rather odd request of being able to fit a bike in the back. (Having a $8000 bike and letting it hang off a tow bar or roof rack doesnt excite me.)

Oh yeah, COI is Captain of Industry... its a bit of a joke we have from vwvortex... Way is number 1 COI :P

We had a discussion at the car about the M door sills... so I'm pretty sure they were there on the drivers side? The Le Mans blue looks nuts!

Are they only bringing a limited number of colors to Australia?

Hmm my friend might have misunderstood me when I ask him if the car had M door sills. Not sure what the selection of colours BMW will be bringing to Aust., but I think there is a fairly wide choice.

Off topic, but why ditching of the iPhone? Too yesterday?

I think drivers sill had "M" livery, but relying on ageing memory

iPhone is indeed too yesterday. Haha. I am in the industry so I can use whatever I want. I found iPhone difficult to SMS in the 3 weeks that I used it for. That was when it first came out. I might try it again...

Wait until we get official phone so software updates can be used to take full advantage of progress in development. SMS is not such a huge issue for me, so I can cope, but I can see its limitations.

I still think it's one of the best pieces of kit I've ever owned though.

Not sure. Asked my dealer and he said not possible. More likely he wants to keep the info to himself or BMW hasn't set up the ability for owners to tract their cars like our US friends.

Once you have the VIN number of your vehicle you can track it through the shipping company.

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto

Just type in your VIN and away you go!

Actually I am not sure if everyone gets that letter. My dealer is factory owned (well owned by BMW Australia which is in turn owned by BMW AG) so they may have more info. Btw, on the letter the model is stated as E87 135i Lci M Sport Coupe. What is Lci???

LCI usually stands for Life Cycle Impulse in BMW speak... In normal speak, it's supposed to be a mid life facelift... :iono:
