No heat shield under hood on my 2011 128i

Built date 6/09 had to purchase mine out of pocket(damn u BMW)

The shield was used for a few months when the car was launched in the USA. This was so, the media would "knock it" & call it cheap. Then after all the magazines said what they had to say, they eliminated. However, to be fair every manufacture does this crap.

I noticed this too right away on my 2011 135i and thought it odd. My wife's 2010 X3 has one, as did pretty much every other car I've had. Like BMWfan69, my concern is for the effect on the paint over time.
