Best tires for M sport 128i

I've search and found conflicting information. I have a 128i m sport and want to upgrade to 18" VMR 710 wheels. I'm looking to pair it with tires that are quiet. Any suggestions?

Personally I think you can't go wrong with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos. They are quiet, have a good treadwear rating and are good performance tires for not a lot of money. I've had them on three different cars with no complaints. When I switched to my Alufelgen SF-71 wheels I went with the Hankooks.

I don't have any personal experience with these tires. With that said, the Continental ExtremeContact DW gets a lot of rave reviews on this site, it's rated slightly better on Tire Rack's website than the Hankook tire referenced here, and it's literally only a few dollars more.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports...best street tires i've ever driven on. The hankooks have very soft sidewalls...for me they felt weird. You begin turn in and a moment later you feel the turn begin. The PSS's have instant response as good as the run flats and were quieter.

I have the hankooks on mine with cs7's, they're comparatively inexpensive, the tread pattern looks good, grip seems good, although based on past experience they seem like they don't last very long compared to other tires.

All in all I'm pleased with them and would probably get them again.

Since you've got a 128i too I'll point out what I discovered, the car definitely feels a little bit slower with the 18" setup as it's got more weight further out from the hub.

No question the Michelin's are very good tires. They are also considerably more expensive than the Hankooks.

The Hankooks do seem to have softer sidewalls than some other maximum performance summer tires, but in my case running 225/35/19s and 255/35/19s there isn't a lot of sidewall anyway so I really can feel what you are describing.

The Hankooks are what I run for summer tires, though I'm sure the Conti DW are great as well. I'll probably be looking at the Kumho Ecsta XS for my next summer tires. I know I love my Conti DWS for winter tires on my stock wheels.

But the other thing with the PSS's is they're at 25k tire vs 12-15k for the hankooks?

Where did you get those mileage figures? I know that treadwear ratings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos have a 280 treadwear rating and the Michelin PSS have a 300 treadwear rating. That's not much difference in treadwear ratings. Therefore I can't imagine that the mileage between the two would vary by 10,000 miles or more all other things being equal.
