Professional Installers

I am located in the Savannah, GA area and I need to know some recommended installers for my BMW. Talking aftermarket parts, suspension, gauges, etc. I have not found one good place around the area that does these sort of things. I guess tuning is not really popular on the east coast, and the second someone heard BMW they want you to fill out a waiver in case the shop doesn't know what they're doing and they damage the car. Screw that. Please help.

I've noticed the same thing since moving out here from the north. I have had some places quote me work, but because I said BMW, prices were way out of bounds from what it realistically should be (and I know since I used to be a service writer). Depending on what you want, it seems the market is pretty limited on quality BMW work.

that is very true, there is one shop here in Savannah called German Auto Service. I wrote a review on yelp because I felt I had to. These guys claim they work with BMW, Mercedes, and Porsch's. Just look them up and read the reviews. I'll never go to another shop that claims they only work on German vehicles, especially when they have no ideas of Turbos and newer tunes such as Cobb, Procede, Vishnu, etc.

I used to live in Savannah and there are not really many "tuner' shops in the area. Most people go out of town to get the work done. I know the guy that runs German Auto Service and I would never take my 1 there for performance work.

yea, good thing I just got minor exterior work done, never again though. I will read up on DIY from now on. Anyways, know of anywhere outside my area that can possibly do some justice for me?

There are a few places down here in Jacksonville or further south in Orlando. I am sure there are some places in Atlanta also. I prefer to DIY most things because then I know it is done right. Just got done cleaning my valves and I ended up paying less than most shops and I got a new air compressor.

yea, I just don't have the tools or space to do something like coilovers or suspension, so that's what i'm mainly looking for. Are you out of warranty? Doesn't the dealership normally service valve cleaning? How many miles is something like that even done? I heard 60-80k.

I am out of warranty but the dealership doesn't do valve cleaning. You might want to check out Asian Automotive in Savannah. They do alot of racing shouldn't do you wrong with stuff like coilovers.

When my fiance and I were in Statesboro for school, she would take her z3 to University Imports. It's right next to the Georgia Southern campus and they seemed to be pretty reasonable on maintenance costs, and also very easy to get along with. There were a few things that happened (I feel that some things are expected when taking a luxury car anywhere) like timing, it took them a while to get some repairs done. As far as putting aftermarket parts on your 1er, I'm not sure. But it wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

sounds good, thanks for the advice, also I am posting my review from yelp here on the German Auto Service, just to warn anyone that potentially wants to go there.

We have actually had a few customers drive up to us from Savannah. It's only 4-5 hours

I just saw thread, my national guard unit is in Savannah so once a month if you need parts installed I don't mind helping you. I've installed everything on my car myself. The springs were the only thing that I had help on. I live in Jacksonville so it's not a long drive for me.

I need a reputable place to take my car for carbon cleaning. I'm hoping someone can direct me to a place within a reasonable radius of Savannah that can do a walnut blasting. I'm at almost 87K miles.
