for a single pallet, it's easier and similar price to air freight

for two stacked top loading pallets, sea freight :/

i'd give it a REALLY high chance of being in a crash.. but for that price.. as long as it passes visual inspection...?

the original Rear only was listed at 1k GBP... i got it for 600... then he offered 500.. then it hit 14 days.

so at this stage i think they're just desperate

but getting the full M3 steering rack as well as all 4 brakes and the rear subframe+diff? yeesh. probably get it for 650-700GBP offer, ship it over for $800-900 AUD with a dodgy price declaration.. and you have a ridiculous bargain still.

Yeah grab that shit up ASAP. Super cheap.

Btw, I don't think the steering rack will bolt right up. The steering column, power steering pulley and power steering pump at a minimum are different parts. If it works though, be sure to let me know

Edit: Also might want to double check if the front subframe bolts straight up. The 1M uses the 135i front subframe.

i don't really want the M3 front subframe, would sell that on lol.. just it comes in the package, so ehh

same for all 4 shocks+springs.

1M has a different PS pump, but.. the hydraulic lines are all identical.. so i'd assume the 1m pump wasn't revised for any particular reason that would prevent this.. unless it needs stronger hydraulic pressure to overcome the lower lock to lock long term?

E46/E36 M3 steering rack swaps were almost a normal thing to do though, and considering the level of homogeneity between 90% of all other components... it doesn't make much sense for it to simply 'not work' at all?

that'd be something future brendan would worry about though

ED: steering shaft is the same part - http://realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=32306769166

tie rod ends are the same... PS hydraulic lines are the same

so absolute worst case.. you'd need to get a wrecked 1m steering pump. not much of a hassle?

... that does remind me though.. i just found the 130i and 135i power steering pump/line setup is different. good catch lol.. though the rack's are identical.

Hmmm, I actually found that the steering columns were different.

135i - http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...16&hg=32&fg=30
1M - http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...35&hg=32&fg=30

The 1M seems to have 2 options, one of them being the same diagram as the 135i but it doesn't list part numbers. http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...16&hg=32&fg=30

I think it might have something to do with every RHD 1M, regardless of build date, on realOEM seem to have Active Steering which would result in different hydraulic lines, steering column, pump etc. Maybe a mistake with realOEM.

I did ask harold@HPA one time about this and he said that he had a look underneath the cars and that it didn't look like a straight swap of the racks and tie rods. He didn't really elaborate on why though. Man of few words through PMs.

I really hope that it does work though, because if so I'm definitely doing it

ahhh right, i see now.. i assume if the part is semi-listed on the 1M page, that it works, but isn't sold with?

i'll have a further look at parts numbers when i get home :/

well can't work it out for sure unless someone gives it a go right?

I've had others say that the tie rod ends of the non-rack side fit on.

am seriously starting to bite off more than i can chew almost hahahaha

tons of wreckers charging like $3-4k for the set saying 'yeah we don't care if it doesn't sell for a year or two'

.... it's like 75-90% of 'brand new' price o_o

the worst part about ebay, is how things show up in searches... after about 30 different searches, i think i've managed to find most of what i want for an... 'okay' price, over different auctions, though

Yeah the OP had it all installed and was great, but unfortunately his car was crashed

What info did you need to know, or were you just curious? (this is a proven combo to fit the 135i/335i

I'd suggest putting on some slip on spacers until they don't hit, then get wheels at that offset. Stock offset is pretty high and all
