problem after installing Lux Angel Eyes

I installed my Lux Angel Eyes into my 135i. Today I got a warning my adaptive headlights were faulty and not working. The headlights are are frozen, pointing to the left.

Advice welcome.

Just check and make sure the Lux black ballast box you put in is not blocking your adaptive headlight mechanism.

It is a pretty common issue for cars with adaptive headlights.

Yep +1, use 3M dbl side tape to adhere the ballast to the cover away from the adaptive light. Problem solved.

Now my left headlight is not working. I am concerned a small cosmetic upgrade is going to cost me dearly at the dealer.

Has this happened to anyone else?

it has, and people have posted about it.

the gist is this: stick it low and as far back in the plastic housing as possible. I think there are even a couple pix of this on a 1m where the owner used heavy duty velcro (as i did) to stick it in place

Uninstall it and see if it's fixed. If it's fixed, do a better job reinstalling.

If it's still not fixed, then you have an issue... and hopefully not yet still related to the install method.

VERY typical problem. This is why I refuse to mess around with my AE's. I had my AE coded to run a higher voltage (makes them look more white) then take the risk of an adpative headlight failure. Each headlight is like $1,500 just for the housing!

I removed the Lux units and the left headlamp is non-functional.

Default setting for the AE is level 4. Max level is 9.

If we set to Level 6 or 7 should be okay for the adaptive headlight.

Hungh ???

I was talking about the AE voltage. I think stock voltage is 9V, and max is 14V. I think mine were set to 11.5V. (not 100% sure on those numbers). This was done thru car-coding.de (ie: Thorsten in Munich).

There is a cable socket underneath the headlight cover when you took it out, just make sure that is not loose.

a bit OT - I suppose not all 135i comes with adaptive headlight? I don't think mine comes with it.

I am assuming adaptive headlight is when you turn left the light goes toward the left a little bit? Just like the merc ones?

Yep, but mine failed due to the gasket and going through a high pressure wash Put the stock light back in and tell the SA the adaptive light is not working.

I had an issue where one of the wires in the Lux connector was not making contact. I had to shove the wire into the socket.

same here. with the ballasts velcroed in place, the wires really shouldn't pull out of place anymore

It's been suggested if I disconnect the battery for an hour this will clear the warnings. Will this have any effect on the non-functional headlight?

I recently received my Lux and this same thing happened to me. The positive wire on the Lux connector was not fully seated. I pushed it back in and reconnected the connector and so far so good. Prior to that I could wiggle the wire and get it to flicker on demand.
