Help Installing Tial BOV!

Hello all,

I recently got an ER charge pipe and Tial bov. The bov came attached to the charge pipe, so I figured this install would be even easier. I was wrong, and after a day I finally got the stock charge pipe out and the ER one in. However, now I have no idea where to put the vacuum line from the bov to. Also what do I do with the vacuum lines that are on the recirc valves now?

The directions that came with the kit say to attach it to the nipple of the intake manifold, but im not experienced enough to know where that is. I've also been using the DIY guide over on E90post but it kinda skips over the steps about disconnecting the recirc valves and where to put the vacuum line at. I've attached a picture to show what I mean.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

See the braided vacuum line with the Y splitter? Just follow that vacuum line to the intake manifold. Remove the old braided vacuum line, your new line goes from the manifold to the tial bov.

Thanks vtl! By connecting the vacuum line to the intake manifold where I connect the black plastic line coming from the right side of the car? Its the one on the little Y-shaped connector.

Your sentence doesn't quite make sense to me. Heres a step by step:

To find the intake manifold nipple, follow the long braided hose that is attached to the Y pipe.

You will want to disconnect the braided vac line from the manifold nippe and throw the braided hose and Y pipe in the bin. This is because the braided vac hose is likely too narrow to fit over your bov nipple.

You will also want to cut the zip tie on the bov and remove that vac line and toss it in the bin, it looks too short to reach the manifold nipple, if not you can use it

Then you will want to run your vacline from the manifold nipple to the BOV nipple.

What is the black pipe on the Y pipe? That is not stock, was it just attached to the stock diverter?

Thanks again for the response vtl. I really appreciate the help. I apologize if im not explaining things correctly, im still really confused by all the lines. The black pipe was attached to the Y-pipe which led to the stock diverter valves. It looks like it goes to some sensors located on the right side of car. Here's a picture of what it all looked like before I started the install.

That looks like its for an aftermarket P3 gauge. Do you have one in the car? If you are not the first owner they may have left the line in place which may cause problems if it is not capped off. I don't think a line like that is present on my car. It was just 1 braided line into a Y then a braided line for each diverter valve.

Just looked at your sig and you have a p3 gauge thats what that line is for.

Thanks man, I forgot that I did add the boost line for the P3 gauge. That extra line was really throwing me off. This is what I did after vtl's suggestions:



Would hooking it up to the T-line like this be okay? The car started up and ran fine but I couldnt really hear the bov open and when i did it made this weird "weeze" sound. Almost like someone letting air out of balloon slowly.

Yep that should work fine, the Tial is not that loud so you really have to be at high boost to be able to hear the blow off. Is it only making the sound after you let off the throttle under boost?

Yep that's normal, you let off the throttle and it vents excess pressure. Time to enjoy the car
