I'm not one to ever buy extended warranties but I'm sure glad I did when I bought my 135 a little over a year ago. I think I paid $3500 for the warranty through National Warranty Corp. So far they've paid out over $5,000 for repairs. Two new headlight assemblies/control modules and a water pump. All dealer repairs. I had to corner them though on the headlights when they claimed that the warranty didn't cover sealed beams. I had to go back and forth with the claims rep explaining what a sealed beam was and the BMW headlight absolutely wasn't. They ended up paying the whole claim after sending an adjuster/inspector to check out the car. Other than that they've been pretty easy to deal with.

On Porsche, you replace engines. I don't know a single Porsche owner with the original engine in their car. |

I got the second best coverage from Endurance for 3500. Haven't had to use it yet but I know it's only a matter of time. I'll let you guys know how to experience goes but with the limited amount of interaction I've had with them thus far, I'm very confident they'll honor their end of the bargain without being a nuisance.

What causes 100% of all Porsche engines to self-grenade?

I'll be buying an extended warranty for mine in the next few months, once I settle in my decision of who I want to go through. I'm looking at exclusionary contracts which cover almost everything. I don't want to BS around with whoever I go with, and the feeling should be mutual on their end as well. All of the warranties I've purchased over the years have paid for themselves.
As far as considering a replacement, I'm hard-pressed to find anything outside of BMW or Porsche that would meet all of my criteria. And for the money, I'd still rather have my 135i. With the Dinan S2 tune on my car, it's making serious power and aside from a few frivolous expenditures I could dream up about any car I own, it's dialed in the way I want it. You need to spend serious money to get this kind of power paired to a lightning fast dual clutch transmission in anything else, though that's not to say I'd kick an M2, M3 or M4 out of bed. |

I'm in the same spot right now. The certified warranty just ran out on my 12 and I have been going back and forth on whether i should or shouldn't. I had it on a prelude and S2000 and it more than paid for itself so why would I ever think that it wouldn't on a BMW. Now its just a matter or which company and how much. I got a quote from my local stealership on a warranty from Warranty Solutions and it's nearly $4k for 2 years. Is that not ridiculous? This is a second car and gets less than 10,000m a year and I'm at 46k now.

National Warranty Corp. Based here in Oregon.
https://www.nwc.biz/defaultnew.aspx When I purchased my car it still had six months of factory warranty so I don't know if that had any effect on that rate. They've paid out just over $5k on repairs so far. |

I called National Warranty Corp and they don't come this far east. Bummer. I may have to go with Route 66. Or probably wait until spring since i will more than likely be parking the car for winter. By the end of next year I will be near 60K miles so will probably be a good time.
