My poor friend...

My friend took his 1-Series to the service department today for a "service engine soon" light, paid $1230 for 6 spark plugs and ignition coils, plus labor.

Update: $560 just in labor alone.

Is he actually poor though? If he has the dough sounds like he got rid of the light anyway right? Or does he have to park his 1er and take the bus now as a result.

He's not poor, just makes bad decisions, everyone does. However, he only needed to have one spark plug and one ignition coil replaced but decided to have all them replaced. If he had told me prior to having it done, I would have told him to just have that one replaced, since he was already there, and DIY the rest, but, it was too late.
