Heat reflective tape

I will be going with a green filter and trying out heat reflective tape as seen on a 128i race car. I want to prevent all the heatsoak I can and rather do this then buy a over priced intake! Anyone think this is a good idea? Yay or nay worth it or not?

I don't think it will necessarily be noticeable for the driver, but i don't think it'll hurt performance either.

Also wrap the intake manifold aswell. It can't hurt anything...

It will probably keep temperatures at a level for longer periods. Making the car perform more stable if you are on the track during the day.

This is more crucial vs the intake box. If only there was heat reflective paint for plastic/composite...

I actually read on a thread that plastic is pretty good on reflecting heat compared to a aluminum unit. So bmw did a good job there but I'm sure wrapping could only improve things! And yes you are right I wish there was a spray! Maybe there is and were not looking for it in the right places lol

No spray lol
Anyway. If you are to wrap manifold
My suggestion is to not cover the manifolds 5mm joints and other raises. So focus on the flat stuff, not the raised stuff/ fins.
Also the manifold sides which face engine block is more cost effective to cover vs entire thing
End result would be more aesthetic.

I'll keep that in mind! Would be better to get a disa unit and wrap it while it's off the car the exact way I want it and clean! And of course not the fins heaksink the heat I'm guessing.

From the dead. Updated, I saw someone on Instagram did this lol wow exactly how we talked about on here. He said he honestly didn't think it was going to make a difference but he tried it anyways and he said it greatly improved the car. Looks like I'm going to do it. My car shipped out today from Germany so next time I see it, I'll be in North Carolina if anyone wants to link up

Aluminum actually conducts heat. Gold is one of the best reflectors, that said the correct tape itself will only contain a very small amount of gold. Gold itself is a very soft material.

I honestly think you are splitting hairs at this point, unless you are tracking extremely hard for long periods of time (close to endurance stints) I don't see this being worth while. Just my opinion. Save the money and put it towards a LSD.

This.

You're better off increasing overall flow through the intake.
