hmmm...never thought about that! (although on black or other darks I imagine it would be less noticable) Anyone have a pic of that? Not a biggie..but it would be neat to see side by side (with and without)...:

If you build a 1 series on the BMWNA website, set the view to rear, and toggle between PDC checked and unchecked on the options page, you should see the rear bumper dimples. (Works for cashmere silver anyway.)

Same reason I'm not a fan of it. You're not the only one, lol.

I know you're just being funny, but I'm sure there are people who rely entirely on the mirrors or the park distance control only. There is no better source than your own eyes. You should look and only use the parking aids as aids, and not the sole information.

If you're a detailing freak, PDC isn't going to work well with you, b/c detailing around the dimples. And if it gets ice or snow on it, it'll beep constantly like you are at collisson point even though you aren't.

I'd order the car with it, b/c the graphic is cool. I wish front PDC was available though. Why do I have to get a 5-Series to make that happen?

Because you live in the United States where we all park in our own private, rolling fields of roses and stuff. Or something. Ok, Ok. I don't get it either.

I just don't get how BMW thinks in the US. I mean, if I'm looking at the 1 or 3 series coupe, I'm obviously not at all interested in the sedan 5 Series, so I'm not going to pay that upgrade price just to get front PDC.

I know they're just trying to make the up-sell. Just, I mean, bloody hell, it's available to everyone else, give me the option to buy it.

how odd, i m having the opposite experience. when i think i m close, i've got a big fat gap...

with the back up and determining distance, i've gotten used to it with driving the previous 3 series. not that big of a difference.

+1 !!!

Not getting PDC is a bad decision. If it just saves you once from hitting something it was worth it. Takes the risk out of backing up.

my parking distance control is a life saver!!!

I love it even with all the beeping!!

I had a friend riding with me and he mentioned all the beeping and I just explained what every beep was... When the ride was over he says to I love how you car warns you and tells you all that's going on!! I told him yup!! this car rocks!!

But seriously folks...Yep the rear is closer than you think and the front is further forward than you think. You'll get used to it, no problem.
I had the same learning curve with my wifes Cayman. Small rear and a front that sticks way out.
Maybe people without park distance control could instlall a rear tow hitch? Just back up until it hits something
