So I just got back from lunch and saw my first fellow 1'er, I was pretty happy to see another 1 - till I saw the badge on the back "M1" as there isn't such a thing, 1-Buddy became 1-Tool... anyone else seen this?

Everyone else on this site from Toronto - keep your eye out for this black 1 coupe - I'll throw a $20 bounty to the first person who posts a picture of this tool on this thread! (The kid driving it looks like one of these kids)

Pretty funny I have to say. Did anyone seriously not think it was going to happen.....a lot?!?
Everyone is all excited about the sports update on the YouTube AW 135i but no-one noticed the M badge on the back? Hmmmmm. Just fast forward 54 seconds into it: I say live and let live. Personally, the less attention the better, but hey, I ain't '1' for showing off. |

Instead of starting a $20 bounty, just have everyone in Toronto print up signs that say "Loose the //M badge you poseur" and either hold them up when you see the guy drive buy or stick it in his wiper blades if you see him parked.

That's awful. I sadly get this question daily at the retail counter. "Do you have the ///M Badge? I drive a 328i." Please don't disgrace your car!!!

I doubt they'll ever call an M version of the 1 the M1...because the original M1 was an exotic. The only way there will be an M1 again is if they make another mid-engined sports car, perhaps to challenge the R8.

I once saw a skyline GTR badge on a mustang. ... he also replaced the ford emblem with a transformer's decepticon icon .... kinda ironic. he really is a decipticon.

what a joker. I think people (both the general public and on this board) don't really understand what the M1 name is. The M1 was BMW's super car back in the days, even it BMW had a race version of the 1 series, I would very highly doubt that it would be called the M1 - as that belongs to that super car. Hence, when BMW mentions anything reomtely related to a sport version of the 1, they don't bring up the M1 name - hence the resurrection of the Tii name.

:drinking:hmmmm. Excel is now doing marketing for BMW. My guess is that M badged 1 series is a sure thing. I mean they're already available up in Toronto - Willie saw one early this week....LOL
Now if we could just convince BMW to bring them across the border. Just kidding of course. The M1 was a great car, but really, is it a stretch to M1 badge in this day and age of shameless marketing? I mean, the 1er was sold as a re-incarnated 1 series. With a double turbo straight six no less. Marketers are shameless.....I should know...I work in the industry. But Excel, you are right....it's like a good story retold the wrong way. :iono: |
