Isn't the sport package already standard on the 135

I was reading the options list and was wondering if the sport package was already included in the base price of the 135. :iono:

No. Sport suspension and M-Sport body kit are standard on the 135i.

The Sport Package is something different.

Based on how it's marketed it SHOULD be, but BMW likes to nickel and dime us, so it isn't. I think it's petty.

Does anyone know if the governor on the 135i will be set lower without the sports package? I've looked around and can not find anywhere that specifically says yes or no. ( I know it will on the 128i)

If so, is the only reason the lack of the oil cooler? Cold that be changes if one were added later on?

The only thing I gleaned from the brochure is that the Sports Package on the 135i includes:

1. M steering wheel
2. fancier seats
3. shadowline trim

Nothing to do with performance or handling!
For $1,100 more?! :eyebulge:

I'm pretty sure it includes the oil cooler too, which is most definitely a performance item.

The non-sport seats suck compared to the sport seats, and the adjustable side bolsters work incredibly well holding you in snugly. They are perfectly fine for Autocross, though for DEs I go with schroth harnesses. Well worth the $1k

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

I had looked at the brochure, but honestly this copy:

Top speed limited electronically.
All-season tires limited to 130 mph;
Sport Package top-speed limiter increased to 150 mph.

seemed a bit confusing when taken together. I understand that a lot of it has to do with the tires, but the second statement about the sports package could be read as indicating that even with the performance tires the gov will be 130 if you do not order the sports package.

I'm not going to track it, so its pretty much academic for me but I was just curious.

Oh, so the 135i does come standard with chromeline, and you need to buy the optional sport package for shadowline. That's great news as I want chromeline and the 264s on my 135i.

Its a pretty limited "Sport package" since the 135 has the M suspension already.

It's worth it for the seats and oil cooler (if you get a manual anyways.) I think the dealer charges $600 to install an oil cooler alone on the 335.

it is a bit confusing. But to simplify I think it basically means A/S tires 130 mph H/P tires 150MPH

This package doesn't seem to really cost BMW anything. I doubt the sport wheel, shadow line trim, or even the seats cost that much more than the stock components. Maybe the oil cooler is actually added, but I'd be surprised if it's not standard with all the bad press they've had with the 335's overheating.

I have a feeling the oil cooler is on the car already, whether you get the sport package or not.

It would be nice if someone can verify this.

It just seems they would charge more than $1000:

Sport seats
M steering wheel
Shadow line
oil cooler? (maybe)

Agree 100%. What the hell are we getting that's worth $1000? The seats can't cost much more than the standard ones. They are made on a production line and have minimal extra components. The tires are basically the same cost to bmw. The oil cooler is $100 or less in parts for BMW. Yes, it would cost the consumer more than $1000 after the fact to convert to the sport package but on the assy line its almost negligible. I'd say $150 more real cost max.

It's unlikely that the seats wouldn't cost more to make than standard ones, they might not only have extra components but be bought from a different supplier. Name one manufacturer that doesn't charge a healthy premium for sports seats.

If you think it's a gyp skip the option and buy your own sports seats, you'd blow the whole grand right there.

Again I am not sure how you are privy to BMW's costs but I find your estimates absurdly low.
