You know the 1M is special when....

You seem to be invisible and almost get crashed into by a idiot not paying attention...... GRRRR

Then shortly after have a guy at a light complement you saying "you don't see many of those around especially in white"

Today I was autobahn blasting, heading south from Wiesbaden towards Heidelberg on the A5, pulled behind a low slung black Merc, 4 pipes out the back...looked like a $130,000 SL55 AMG. Traffic was chunky and then clear and then chunky so I watched the cars in front of him and when they started to move right, I accelerated knowing he was going to do the same. Glorious howl from V8 Kompressor but since I anticipated him, was able to keep up with him...we played this game for 15-20 minutes reaching 140 and then having to back down....then suddenly he pulls in right lane and slows down. I'm thinking he's a pissed off German. As I cautiously pull besides him and look at him....he's got a shit-eating grin and gives me the fist sign....guess that's good. Then he rolls down the window and I roll my passenger window down and we chitchat in German doing 60mph and he's asking me if it's a 3 series or a 4 series? I say no..."einzer M"...he's quizzical...I yell "einzer"...he gives me a thumbs up and roars away...another 5 minutes of playtime and I turn off....

That was fun!

My car almost caused a 135i driver to crash into a guard rail at 10 mph yesterday due to a head swivel and forgetting to turn as I passed him at 15 miles per hour (the speed limit). My car had just been professionally detailed after its keying damage was repaired.

My BSM gets lots of attention when it is clean and shiny and is very stealthy when dirty. I don't think a VO car is ever stealthy ...

Granted, though that parking style never fails to draw attention to the BMW brand

I would assume he was meaning Advevo occupying two parking spots

Bingo! (please don't take offense, just teasing)

Don't get me wrong, I'd go for any free-all-around spot or some spot with the least possible neighbors. (in Antwerp already got 2 cars damaged by neighboring cars or people parking nearby)

Just the places in the world that i've lived so far, BMW's are the majority of 'í'll take these two spots' cases even when it's crowded.

In my personal experience it's the owners of Jeep and Mercedes; fat cars of fat people.

Advevo probably was drifting before that and put the car there as a result of it You have to give the guy some credit he can't be great in both driving/ drifting/racing and also in parking!

All kidding, cheers

When you pull into a gas station behind and kitty corner to an Ariel Atom whose driver is holding court talking to an admirer, and as you are pulling forward after topping off the Ariel driver gives you an approving nod.

Back in 2011, my dealer had 2 allocations for a 1M.

One of these was pre-ordered by a guy who had just totaled his Ariel Atom. The 1M was supposed to be a replacement fun car for his AA.

The other allocation ended up in my hands, replacing my M3 (pristine condition).

Interesting story.

If anything similarly unfortunate were to happen to the 1 M and I could not salvage it or find another in decent shape I would definitely look into a slightly used, or perhaps even new Ariel Atom.

There's a gentleman on one of the other boards I frequent that picked up one of the first one's back in 2005, and he's made 3 separate cross country trips in it over the course of the past 8 years.

That would be really to experience even just once.

Be careful though with those lightweight machines. Over here, a lethal accident happened a year ago during a demonstration (for a journalist) by an experienced owner. The Ariel Atom spun out of control and crashed. What was supposed to be a thrilling experience for the journalist, tragically and abruptly ended with a freak accident: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...&postcount=216

When a yellow F430 slows down and pulls along side you to check your car out and then downshifts (F1 gearbox) to pass you and take the next exit.

Needless to say there where 14 cylinders and 8 exhaust pipes singing for a few seconds. The minivan infront of us must have been WTF??
