hit by a hipster

so I'm in the middle of an intersection traffic pretty heavy, light turns yellow.

traffic in front slowly clears out. light turns red.

i proceed to also clear out of intersection....

chick was texting

i was headed east on a three lane road...in the middle lane....traffic was pretty heavy. and about a 1/4 mile ahead was another light. So the traffic from that light backed up traffic all the way into the intersection of the light i was at, but i entered the the intersection when it was still green and before i could clear the intersection it turned red (was about 2/5 into the intersection). the light 1/4mile ahead then turned green, so traffic in front of me cleared out of the intersection so i followed because i was blocking 2 of the 3 lanes of the southbound roads. either the chick couldnt see around the cars in the lanes next to her, was texting, or she approached the intersection pretty fast

You shouldnt enter an intersection you cannot make it completely through. Insurance may hit ya for that.

+1 Sucks that it happened though. Any of us could have easily made this same mistake.

Sounds to me like you were trying to turn against the red light. If that is the case, you were in the wrong. Look ahead, predict the likely outcome and display good manners. Otherwise, you're just part of the problem out there.

I actually wasn't trying to turn I was going straight. I entered the intersection within 5 seconds of it turning green. I couldn't have guessed it would turn red before I could get out.

I must have not been clear in stating that I was just trying to go straight. I didn't get into the intersection to turn left, which I know what you are talking about that always causes problems.
