Minimum Rim Width

I am running the stock 7.5x8.5" staggered setup but with Advan Neova AD08s with 225/40x18 F and 255/35x18 R.

Now I know that it has been discussed before and the consesus is that those sizes should be fine on stock wheels but I am having some traction issues and am not sure if these sizes are contributing to it. I was getting almost as much traction with the RFTs.

Basically I am running procede and catless midpipes and am having trouble using the power its making due to constantly losing traction under fairly moderate load.

I am planning on putting in a quaife so hopefully that should sort out a lot of the problems. In the meantime I am concerned that the stock wheels arent wide enough for the 255/35 at the rear. The yoko website states the minimum rim width is 8.5" which is ok but the optimum width specified is 9". Now I know thats only half an inch but would swapping over to 8"x9" rims better suit these neovas or is it not worth worrying about.

Thanks for any insight.

I am running 255 PSS on 264s with Cobb 2+. I don't have much traction. A few weeks ago I ran 18x9 BBS REs with 255 Hankook Ventus V12s. I didn't have traction on those either. It's not the wheel/tire combo that's the problem it's just the lack of tire.

I actually wish I would have stuffed 265/235 on the 264s even though they are not recommended for the wheels.

I had 265/35/18 on stock 261 M style wheels, lowed on H&R SSS and no rub at all
But if you guy have traction issue then 255 or 265 won't make any different. Only way to cure that is get better tires not wider.
