Had 1er for 3 weeks thinking of trading for x5 4.8 or srt-8 jeep

Yup I put in cobb tune CDV delta short shifter and clutchstop and afe intake. It flies but I\'m coming out of an 06 RR SC and I miss the heigh and room of the SUV. Wish I could keep both. Boston roads suck and it\'s hard to appreciate this 135 unless I\'m on freeway. Any suggestions. I\'m looking at 4.8 2008 cpo x5 or srt-8 jeep 2007. Thank you

Here's my suggestion... Do more research next time. Although I'm not certain how the size and height difference managed to sneak up on you - they are pretty obvious.

I went from an SUV to 135i and I would NEVER go back to an SUV again.. I see SUV's now and I feel nauseated. HAHA, don't make any snap decisions, I def think you'll regret that later. Just saying

X5 is a BMW and all....but I've had them as a loaner before....they kinda suck. Just my opinion.

Ugh. My dad has a tuned 5.0 H/O Explorer, which he tauts as a sporty SUV.

I freaking hate it. It's a completely different experience that he likes and I don't.

But seriously? If you're considering getting rid of the 135 for and SUV, I think you made the wrong initial descision

But have you tried dropping down to 17"s? I did this summer and it was the best descision I've ever made with NYC potholes.

nope i love the car but when i hit a pothole which there are many I feel like I am breaking the poor car. I guess i was spoiled in the range with the air suspension. The car is a beast and I may keep for a while and get a beater for the winter so I can take it up north skiing. Ive had a 535xi and I liked that alot but this car is more fun but is a lot smaller and feels lower to the ground also. This forum gave me a lot of knowledge for my upgrades and I like the help and feedback that I get except for the judgemental people that like to make other people feel bad so they can feel superior. Thanks for your help maybe getting rid of the runflats will help also as i have read about that on here also.

Ditch the RFTs. Your kidneys will thank you and that outrageous banging when you hit potholes will be a thing of the past. Do replace them with Michelin SS or similar to retain a fairly stiff sidewall for steering response.

Or put a set of 17"s on there. If you dated a girl for 3 weeks it would be hard to decide on your future together - treat your 135i like that, your used to your old SUV and thus the adjustment period just needs to settle for you to make an educated decision. You'll take the heaviest hit on its value right now anyway so whats a couple more weeks??

Try extended test driving or borrowing either (or both) of the cars you're considering and that way you can compare them to the 135's offerings and prepere yourself better for your next decision - even if that turns out to be keeping the 1er

Yes I like the look of the 18's I will try the Michelins. I plan on moving to Miami in the spring and the 1er would be perfect down here. If no good then I will try the 17's.

Not a lot of curvy/hilly roads (none at all, actually), but lots of traffic and rain, and you'll be here just in time for hurricane season. Not really a spirited-driving kind of town, I'm afraid. And the place is already packed with exotics, so a 1er will get you laughed out of the local country club (if that matters to you).

There are a couple places outside of town where you can really open it up on a straight line, though, if high speed is your thing. You can spot a lot of exotics out on US27, Alligator Alley, and the longer stretches of I-75 and the Turnpike. And there are a couple of open drag strips, and of course Sebring isn't too far away (~3 hrs from MIA).

Also a great town for convertibles.

Exactly!! Seriously who the hell goes from a RR SC to a small sporty coupe?? Must of been an impulse purchase.

i like that idea a lot also about getting an suv also. It wasnt an impulse buy i did my research took 1 month to buy. I like the car even though I feel like a gay man when I drive it lol.

I would go to 17" wheels with non-runflats. I drive in NJ which I doubt is much better then MA. and have no problems.

if you're looking for height and room, why stop at an SUV? a gulfstream 5 rides much higher and is way roomier.

I had a 07 Jeep SRT, and when it hit a rut or bump, it was worse than my 135 with RFTs are. Very rough ride, but a great car at the stop light! Also had an 06 X5 4.4 that ran flawless. Smooth ride, just not real quick. With that Jeep I got an average of around 11-12 MPG. With the 4.4 got an average of 16-17. The 135 gets around 21 average. We will always have an SUV for the winter here in the Chicago area. Going to look at the new 2012 Jeep SRT with the 6.4 but I know my wife will want a X5 50
