A few more mods
I got around to having my Forge intercooler fitted today and then popped back to DMS to have my ECU tweaked with the new mods. Last time they mapped it I didn't have the N55 mids on so they recommended that another dyno be carried out to ensure everything was running as expected.
The intercooler took all of 15-20 minutes to install and is a superb bit of kit After the drive to DMS they gave the car a few dyno runs with the first run returning a 425bhp (up from 402bhp). Rob at DMS then tweaked it and the result was: I'm really happy with it now and he car feels stronger than ever. We initially lost some torque but increased on the power but after the tweak Rob got the torque back to around 480 lb.ft and power up to 431bhp. I'm very happy |

Chris, those figures are very impressive, especially when you dont have DP's.

DPs should add more than mids or a rear exhaust under normal circumstances. I am not sure if I remember correctly but if he does not have dps and intake, then with those added and the tune fixed one last time he will be hitting around 450 hp and 670-680nm of torque...at the least.

29 HP gain is quite impressive for just mids and FMIC. What was the increase for torque and what RPM is the power dropping off at?

Also it's worth pointing out that my last dyno was when the car had about 2500 miles on it whereas now it has just over 7000 miles. Not sure if it makes a big difference the mileage but maybe a combination of everything has helped it make what it did. Either way I'm really happy with it and it drives even better now |

How do you like the n55 mid pipes? Is the exhaust louder now? |

Thanks buddy. You'll be flogging me your Eisenmann next
Not sure what you mean by brand. It's the standard ECU but remapped with software by DMS Automotive. Quote:
From outside of the car the exhausts are definitely louder. There is a more of a, how can I put it, sort of a metallic sound. A more gutsy, raw, raspy sound. It also pops and gurgles more. I think with a decent backbox on the car now would make it sound very loud! |

Great results, thanks for sharing. Can't wait to have all the Forge units delivered States-side to those of us in the GB as it has been one helluva hawt summer! The delta (29 crank HP) from the FMIC and mid pipe is decent, I did a delta just on my mids and got 8-10whp gains, and planning to see what the incremental delta of the FMIC alone would be.
Incidentally, what were the conditions of the day of the dyno? I was at 90F and a lot of humidity, so on a repeat test in those very same conditions I would think the Forge FMIC would shine even more.

Conditions for the first dyno run back in December were cold (around 1 degree c) which returned 401.4 bhp
Conditions yesterday for my most recent run (on the same dyno) were warmer at around 17-18 degrees c and quite low humidity. It rained most of the morning so I'd call it a fresh day here in the UK. The output figures certainly surprised everyone at the dyno and it would have been good to see what the individual components contributed to the gains. However I didn't have time to dyno with just the mids fitted and then the Intercooler. All I can say now is that the car feels like a monster and really holds the boost well. Above all though, it's actually better to drive slowly as the power is accessible everywhere. |
