Sold my 1M, help me decide what to buy next for under $100k
I sold my 1M las month as I am moving to Texas next January from Mexico. Had the car for almost 2 years and loved it. I have owned a 335, mustang, corvette, 370 z, Z M Coupe and a 996 C2, but the 1M has been the car that I have loved the most.
I have never missed a car after selling it but I just miss the 1M. I am pretty sure the reason for this is because it is a fun car to drive every day and because of it's low RPM torque. Now that I am moving to the US my options are wider but I can't decide what to buy when I get there as I want something that makes me feel like the 1M made me feel. I want to read your opinions on the cars I have in mind: - It has to be $100k or less - MT or paddles, I don't mind as long as it feels right. - 2 doors only and I dont like convertibles. - It will be my daily driver but I will be working from home, so my commute will be to the gym, HEB, etc. My options are: - 2015 Nissan GT-R Premium - C7 Z06 - M4 manual - M4 DCT - 360 Modena - Cayman GTS - 997 Turbo I like all of the, I wish I could have them all but for now, I have to pick just one. Looking forward on hearing your opinions. |

I have a C7 Z06 on order. Shark Gray on Red 3LZ, Full Carbon Roof / Aero / Dash and a 7 speed Z07. I say go that route! I compared it against all of those cars as well and it's the best.

Of that list, Cayman GTS no question.
I have to ask though, if you loved the 1M so much, why not buy another in the states? It is a hard car to replace, ask me how I know... |

All excellent choices. I personally would get a Cayman GTS or 997 Turbo.

@ehoms I hope you don't mind, but I added a poll for this thread. I think it will be easier to see what our members will recommend.

Thank you guys for your responses and thank you Dackelone for adding the poll.
I can live without back seats, but if I needed them, would a manual M4 help me forget the 1M? I was about to close a deal on a 2015 GT-R now that there are some incentives ($86k for a brand new 2015 Premium is a good deal I think) , but I just don't like the looks. |

Of the cars you listed the Cayman GTS is hands down the best. The car not on the list and wouldn't be as practical as a daily driver is the new Alfa Romeo 4C. Amazing car for less than almost every car you listed.

buy another 1M.
i've driven a Cayman GTS and liked it. I'd rather have a 1M than it....but if you want a change; i'd say Cayman GTS......or get a used Cayman R. |

I would buy a slightly used GTR and use leftover money for big turbos

What part ? Of the list , my personal opinions GTR, - just ugly. And I can't get past it. And huge. C7 vette - too angular, and I'm not a vette guy. Hella value. Cayman GTS- I've never driven a cayman yet... Probably afraid I would buy it. 911 turbo - all wheel drive ? no thank you. I would much rather consider a GT3 or equivalent 360 Modena- hmmm now that might look good on me ! m4- Cool Car. Badass even. But too big for me. The M3 looks great but I swear it seems like a 5 series. Another person mentioned the Alfa 4c. Completely impractical for me but sounds like you have a short commute. I would probably get another 1m ... Or maybe an x1 and the Alfa 4c ! |

Why not a 997.1 gt3? Thats what I would buy. I would also consider a 997.2 gts 6mt, maybe a cayman gts. I very nearly bought a '14 Cayman S with all the sporty options before the 1M. The Cayman was very good. Glad I went the direction I did though.
I love the new corvette's I just can't see myself driving one. Its really hard to shake the mid-life-crisis-gold-chain-wearing-losing-control-of-a-burnout-at-cars-and-coffee stigma. No denying they have fantastic performance/dollar ratio. |

GTR, all the way!
Nothing comes close to a tuned GTR. So much potential with those cars. I agree that they are hideous, but damn, those cars don't stop pulling away from other cars, even at 150MPH, It just keeps pulling hard. |

i know several people who have owned GTRs and all of them sold theirs fairly quickly...why? because it's frustrating to drive a car like that on a daily basis knowing that you can't even explore it anywhere near its potential. It's like owning a 12 bedroom house but spending all of your time in 1 bedroom. |

Ehoms - I saw a nice BSM 1M in Polanco yesterday afternoon. It is 4 months now since I had to sell mine and I'm still missing it terribly.
Get another one! There are so many nice cars in Texas, but very very few 1Ms. |

I could see having one if you did a lot of standing mile, airstrip, drag strip, etc. But other than that, there isn't much point IMO. Even on the road course there are plenty of other cars I would rather have for the same money. |

What about something dual purpose like an X5/6M or a Porsche Macan Turbo? If I had to vote on your original list it would be an M4 with Manual.

They aren't bringing the new ones to the states, so if you can find one it may a better financial "investment" decision versus most of the cars you list.

If it were my decision, I'd probably narrow it down to the C7 Z06, M4 w/ manual, and Cayman GTS w/manual. Here's my reasoning for each:
C7 Z06 - I love traditional GT cars with a big engine in front, 2 seats in the middle, and RWD at the back. I also want to own a V8 at some point. The Z06 would also be an absolute beast of a track car assuming I could muster the talent to harness it. Cayman GTS - Possibly the best car Porsche is making right now. Sublime handling where the car reacts almost like an extension of your body. Another great choice for the track. M4 - The best of both worlds car if you are looking for practicality and track fun. Most of us here also know how great BMW's turbo I6 engines are. Talk about a tough decision, and I have no idea which route I'd go without driving each first. I suppose another option is to go with two lesser expensive cars like a used 135/335 and a new C7 Z51. Going that route, you'd have a back seat if you need one, and may be less apt to become bored driving just one car.
