Looking for comments from owners using as DD with 3-4 people
Is any owner using their 1 series as a daily driver with 3-4 people in the car.
Any comments about actual daily use of the back seat. TIA |

This would depend on age, size and the distances involved. For 4 adults, regular use is probably not real practical. Especially if different stops and pickups are involved. A four door 3 series is a better choice. This is not an easy car for large adults or older people with various degrees of mobility challeges to get in and out of. Think of it as a 2 door coupe with an 'occcasional' back seat.

No DD experience with passengers. But I would think that three people would be OK. The passenger side can give and take enough to make it work. But, no one can stay for long behind the driver.
I'd suggest the two passengers rotate front to back. They'll prefer to drive, but they'll have to buy their own 1er for that... LOL.

Don't have the car yet, but with some friends that I hang out with constantly, we went to the dealer that had an existing demo 135i that we could try out, set the seats up front to how we are comfortable sitting, and climbed in and out of the back with my wife and his fiancee respectively. In essence, we played musical BMW chairs.
We concluded that maybe short trips from their house to dinner or movie would be fine but for long term distances would yet to be determined. Still I don't foresee a problem (I am 5'7, friend is 5'9, my wife and his gf are equally 5' each. The 135i is as spacious in back as an E36 3-series coupe from the 90's, which I have extensive experience in and went on long road trips with 3-4 people w/o issues. So depending how how big/tall/small your passengers are, YMMV. imho, if its important for someone to have 3-4 people in your car constantly, why not just buy a 335i sedan and you get the best of both worlds?
