I will feel more connected to the car by using the basic key. Even though it does not hold boost when unlocking.

I've had no issues with my comfort access not working.

Kind of depends on how you touch the handle

I have CA on my '08 135 and I really like it - though at the time I would never have paid for it had I ordered the car - and I've found it depends a lot on where you grab the handle. Sometimes I need to take my hand off the door handle and re-grip it. Also, if my hand is damp or if any part of my palm is touching those raised lock grooves then it often doesn't respond.

The trunk is also sensitive but removing my hand and trying again is usually sufficient. I've only once or twice needed to really wait to let things reset or just used the fob to unlock. I've not seen any correlation to my phone or where the key is in my pocket and both are often in fairly close proximity. I'm in CA where it's dry and the windows are not tinted at all which may help for consistency of environment.

After living with CA I would now certainly order it on my next car or actively consider it a very nice-to-have (though not a must have like the 6MT :-)).

Could window tint be a factor here?

The local tint shop no longer uses cermamic based tints due to there interfering with cell phone use. Just say'n.....

If the keys are in my pocket, starting the car works about once every 5 times, or else I have to plug the fob in. What is wrong with it??

I have a very similar problem. I have to be 5-10ft away from my car max for the fab to lock & unlock it. With the fob in my pocket, the door handle unlocks the car only sometimes, and while I never have any problems starting the car, it often flashes the "no key present" before starting the engine.

Took it to the dealer and they called and said they couldn't replicate the problem. Baffled, I drove to the dealer to pick up my car and when I tried the comfort access it worked perfectly every time.

Mine works perfectly some days, and not at all on others. My friend has a 335d sedan with comfort access and he has never had a problem with it. I drive a 2011 135i coupe with MT.

EDIT: both abides by these laws: http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NC/
