2012 135i M package all season tires

I am new to this forum and will be picking up my 2012 135i with the M package tomorrow June 25th. I was wanting to change the tires on the car to get away from the run flats and install 225/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear all seasons. I was going to get new wheels as well but, I have to purchase new tires for a 2012 335i Sport Sedan due to it having just performance tires also. Will the 255/35-18 tires cause any problems on my 135? I have read where they didn't on some and did on others. Also what would be a good all season tire to install? I know it would be good to get a winter tire but, I am not going to drive it if there is snow and ice on the ground.I live in Matzenbach thats close to Ramstein. I moved here from Nebraska, Offutt AB where we had tons of snow compared to here. Sorry for posting this and I know its been repeated. Also looking to do some mods on my car and would like some advice on first mods recommended. I am new to BMWs so I know I need to do a lot of reading. Thanks in advance. Hope to meet up with some people in the area to talk about cars.

I roll year round so far on OEM Goodyear all seasons, 205 width. I am attempting to burn through them as quickly as possible. They allow the car to slide & the rear end to walk out with ease on hard corner exit Just ask Rudy who commented...."man your car really slides around a corner."

There were only a few days last year where you really needed snow tires. I put about 50Kg of sand in the trunk and drive with a healthy dose of caution.

Having come from another sport package E90 (a similar driving dynamic) I would still recommend a summer tire if your enthusiastic. You can use all seasons in the winter but, alas all season are okay all around and great at nothing.

As for fitment, I defer to others who are running a non-standard tire size (I think you'll be okay).

Your 225/255 will cause no problems at all. I have this size with the Mich PSS. I would recommend Conti DWS. I run them on my wifes MCS and have used them in the past on my 325 when I had it. Probably the best HP all seasons for the money. Truthfully the RFT's aren't really bad just kinda rough. I put many a back country Mach 6 runs along with a few laps on the Ring with them and had a blast. They'll out perform any AS tire for grip (every summer tire has a "summer compound" outside and an "all season" compound inside anyways. It's just the tire tread pattern differs for summers etc...). First mod...depends on what your looking for and want from your car. Keep asking questions and welcome to the forum...

I concur. The 'Ring wasn't smooth but it was a lot of fun.

Getting rid of the RFTs makes the ride smoother but it doesn't feel as planted at Autobahn speeds. I've heard some conjecture that it's the subframe bushings. The stock ones are compliant to offset the stiff RFTs, get rid of them and you start to feel the "squishy" bushings. I'm going to do the M3 suspension and bushings as a Christmas gift to myself.

You'll be fine with 225/255 18's. That is the size I use for my track tires.

Cool, thanks a lot for the advice. I just ordered the JB4 for my 135 and will be ordering the Conti DWS tires for my stock wheels. I plan on getting another set of wheels and tires for it but, I am undecided on the wheel size to get as far as width, back spacing and all. I like the wheels on the 1M and would like to get something like them not sure if i want wheels in a 18" or 19".

225/255 Conti DWS is what i run on my stock ///M wheels and they did great through the winter. Also did great on the 'ring for that matter.

Will be going with 235/265 nitto nt05's on my "summer" wheels when i get back though.

Let me know if you do spring for all seasons, I'd love to buy the RFT's off of you!
