I threw in the towel on trying to install this myself. I figured I'd do more damage than good. I'm going to visit a shop tomorrow that says he can do it this week.

I'm not overall impressed with the installation at all. They took everything I said and basically ignored it. I'm going to try and fix it myself once I move back to Indiana, I don't have time to look at it now.

They really junked up the front sensors. With the BMW specific version does anyone think the receiver 'must' be at the top for best results? The distance between the receiver (bubble part) and the headlight appears to be about the same either way it is mounted. They did a really, really bad job at leveling them and making them straight. They kept blaming the fact that the grill slits were not straight. I pointed out I could move it and make it straight. They said they would take another look but I'm not taking it back to them. I bought a black grill I'm going to install anyway and would have to redo the installation at some point.

The rears they mounted not flush with the edge of the trunk lid because it "looked better" and would "still work". They are not all the way back, I'd say prob 1/2 way back. I'll post a pic when i can. The receiver portion is also backwards from how I think they should have installed it. I'm not sure how big of a factor that will be. The receivers point inwards and not outwards towards the tail lights. I'm assuming the cop would hit the tail lights and not the rear license plate? Not sure though.

The CPU/Speaker box is also somewhere under the steering wheel. I'm going to have to take off that panel to see where.

I had them hard wire my 9500ix at the same time. I do like what they did with the LI switch and the 9500ix remote display unit. They mounted them both in the empty spot underneath the hvac control unit. It's not 100 percent level but it looks ok. I'll post a pic of that as well.

Overall for what I paid for the work I got entirely ripped off. I plan on posting reviews on just about every review place I can think of when I have time after this move.

Where in Indiana are you moving to? I was actually in Seattle/Bellevue over winter break. Love that city! Did some skiing at Crystal and Baker eventually went up Vancouver and Whistler.

Hi Alex. I'm moving to Carmel and staying with friends until I find a place. I'm leaning towards downtown Indianapolis. I liked it here, but I'm originally from Indiana so all my family/friends still live there. I've been out here for three years and that was long enough for me.

Shoot me a PM - would love to chat sometime. Are there ever any group meetups in the Indy area?

I have had a few people ask me if the group buy can be extended and I'm pleased to announce that it can be extended for another week. The group buy now will end on the 9th! Also the list hasn't been updated since I've lost track of who has paid because I couldn't PM some of the newer people but I believe we have 10+ paid so far!

Sorry to hear about the poor install. Yes, the bubbles must be on top according to the Mfg. Yes, the slats of the grille are not 90 degrees...I just made certain they were at the same height from the ground and in a straight line from left to right. I placed the ECU to the left and not directly under the steering wheel with the RJ12 jacks facing the engine. I prefer this so I connect my notebook easily if an update is warranted.

Here is a pic of mine...the Sun was bright and from the West so the sensor on the right is shaded a bit:

Is the group buy still open? What does it cost - 200 dollars over the prices listed in the beginning of the thread? Please PM me if I could still get in and let me know how it works.

Quick tech question - why wouldn't everyone get the hi power option if the price is comparable? Doesn't hi power mean that the laser speed trap is jammed more effectively? Is the BMW Quad as effective as the high power quad?

Group buy is still open. Just PM me your email and which model you want and I'll have Cliff send you an invoice.

Yes high power means more jamming strength. Dual means 2 units for the front. Quad means 4, so 2 for front and 2 for rear.

For all you new Laser Interceptor owners. It is important to have your installation tested by someone who is experienced and has real police LIDAR guns. I have seen testing meets organized on radardetectorforum.org. These testing meets will show any weak points or adjustments needed to be made to your installation. Some installations ay not have been done correctly to properly protect you. Get tested.

When encountering laser, don't continue to jam longer than you have too. That means, as soon as your laser jammer alerts slow down to the speed limit quickly and then quickly turn off your jammers. Do not jam to the LIDAR gun. This will arouse suspicion and can result in you being pulled over. Remember, slow down quickly, turn off your jammers, let the get a speed reading on you.

New member here (and a wolf in sheep's clothing with my C63 on a Bimmer forum!) I was bargain hunting via Google and came across this thread and signed up to get in on the deal, thanks for putting it together.

Went with the Escort 9500ix + LI Dual setup and it shipped out today. That combination is an incredible deal. Thanks again.

It is now past the 9th and the GB has ended. A total of 14 people joined the group buy and paid with me. Cliff said if there are any last minute people on the fence they should PM me now or send him an email and he would still be willing to accommodate them. Hope everyone enjoys their Laser Interceptors!
