How fast is possible?
Saw a guy that ran a 12.7@110, seems pretty impressive...but he bogged, is the car that much more capable? (I think he was a tune only)
The kicker though, the 12.7 was with a 2.8second reaction time courtesy of mentioned 'stalling' Last edited by Freakazoid; 07-16-2010 at 11:39 AM.. |

Are you turning the traction control completely off? IF you do not it will do what you are saying. Even with those tires you will still get some wheel spin and the TC will cut the throttle hard.

Your reaction time (RT) does not factor into your elapsed time (ET). Did you mean a 2.8 60' time?

1. Set traction assist function on JB3 to 60 or 70
2. Take DTC fully off 3. Brake boost to 2600 rpm 4. Let go of brake and feather gas to 90% throttle, traction assist function will do the rest 5. Floor it if/when you hook well I use this method and I have cut 1.91 60' on my Hankook V12 255 street rubber. 12.7 with a 2.8 60' tune only seems pretty incredible. What track were you at?

Learned my lesson and second run, turned it off entirely...it STILL did it which is what confused me (not even entirely certain if you could pull a 12.7 with dtc on ?). It was at the last minute though, but that shouldn't have mattered (only had 3 runs) |

I'll check step 1. step 2 was done step 3 was close enough (I was shooting for closer to 3000) I had let go of the brake and tried to migrate to WOT from there. Perhaps I nailed it too quickly? Honestly I feel retarded, there shouldn't be anything difficult with this.... I'm going to try with a parking lot or something in this area. This was at pittsburgh raceway park (the ONLY dragstrip in the pittsburgh area...typically you'll get 3-4 runs and pay $25...so normally good track prep)... but it was NOT a 2.8 60'... I'lll have to dig up the slip but it was significantly lesser than that. I mean literally a 2.8 second reaction time.... like tree goes... and I sit there for 3 seconds haha |

haha thanks, I was decently satisfied with the time...just know that I'm capable of much better (combined with me looking like a dumbass).
Honestly the 285s were probably a ridiculously huge advantage. I went from RFTs to winters to the 285s (never saw a tune on the RFT), but all the spin that everyone talks about seems to be nonexistant in the 285s, highly recommended. (with the wheels I got, no fender modification was necessary) |

Thanks for the clarification, reading comprehension for the loose on my part.
12.7 is still pretty darn nice. Post your 60' time as thats where you will make hay on your times. My 60' are junk on my DRs and I am desperately trying to be more aggressive with them on but for whatever reason I am a bit timid. Keep us posted and good luck!

Launching at 2600 or 3000 on 285s is low.
That's what you launch at on 245s. Are you running Drag Radials? For that matter... exactly what tires are you running? The thing is: you neeed wheelspin to launch. Especially on street tires. It sounds to me like you are underpowering the massive rubber thayt you have. You have to get them spinning a little bit in order to launch well, so you need to give it more power than you would on stockers. What you're after is that "skipping" sound from the tires that you'll see in a lot of 135i launch videos. You should be netting around a 1.8s 60' time (1.6 on DRs). The 60' time tells the tale of the launch, If you change something and it goes up, undo the change. If you change something and it goes down, you're in the right direction. So to sum up: I think your problem is too few RPMs for the big tires you are running. Last edited by SpeedballTrix; 06-15-2010 at 08:28 PM..
