$699 Wheel/Ding/Windshield Warranty

Anyone think this is worth it? I recall reading on the tire thread that it didn't cover tire/wheel issues if you hit a pothole. If that is truly the case, whats the point? I can see the windshield thing being an issue, since with the rain senson on there, its gotta cost $250 to change that out. But then again, will they do that or drill out a star and fill it in? I've got a feeling that the replacements/maintenance in this package will be done on a minimum need only basis.

I think depending on auto insurance, windshield replacements are free and small cracks are inexpensive to repair.

I would consider the wheel repair considering our NJ roads.

I have NJ Manufacturers and had to eat the cost of a replacement windshield on my old 323. Ended up paying about $150 give or take.

I might do it after the fact, which is somewhat foolish because if you're going to do it, do it now. But at the same time, I don't have the cash for it right now! :-)

I also am very skeptical about what is covered and what is not covered. I'm certain that I'll lose a windshield eventually, so that is a no brainer, but even if that cost me $250 to fix, I need to know what the policy covers as far as wheels and dings go.

I bet its very limited coverage and won't cover whatever ends up happening to my 135.

If anyone knows what this actually covers, let me know.

Thanks

The package offered by BMW in Canada is only for the wheel and tire and it does cover anything that happens to the wheel or tire even potholes.

the wheel or tire in most NJ dealers covers everything except for bubbles in the tire. this is because the stupid insurance companies still consider a bubble in the tire a FUNCTIONAL tire... retarded.

Has anyone actually bought this supplemental insurance package? if it actually covers what they say it covers, it seems like a decent deal.

Just a bump to this post because I'm considering getting coverage more and more. Another question to anyone who has it, when I get new tires, and get them from someplace other than the dealer, are the new tires covered? If not, are the wheels still covered?

I had this insurance with my 3 series, i did use the tire insurance one time, i got a flat, was more than 50 miles away from BMW so i got the car towed there...It was a hassel, the tire had to be inspected by the company that provides the tire insurance, my car was there for 2 days, then once they say the tire is trashed you can pick your car up...They still try to get you, even though you pay for the insurance..

$699 divided by 12 months = $58.25

I say put this $59 towards your monthly insurance and upgrade it to have windshield coverage and lower the deductible.

Of course this does nothing to cover tires but just go with some non-RFT and the price of a new set of tires is only about $800. Get them at a place that warranties their tires and you are set

Normally, I would never get that crud however living in Jersey for 3 years, I had to get TWO (2) new windshields ! Thanks NJTA. One was a gift from construction zone on the Turnpike (rock throw up by a truck in front) which amazingly, NJTA reimbursed me for. I sent them receipt for new glass, told them where it occurred (just south of 14, Newark exits) and I nearly fell on the floor when a check arrived much later. Second was due to moronic SUV owner who didn't clean off the 12 acre roof on her Escalade and sure enough, the whole frozen sheet of snow & ice flew back smack into my windshield, spiderwebbing the whole thing. NJ State Police never got back to me on my complaint since that's illegal in Jersey. Oh well - batting .500 huh? And yes, Jersey roads SUCK (two seasons - winter and construction). With runcraps at $400 a pop and glass probably at $600, might be a serious consideration IMHO.

So is "normal tire wear" covered ? My salesrep told me I could go drag racing all day and BMW would replace tires with the wheels & tires protection but I'm not seeing that written anywhere...

Any Audi owners know if they offer a warranty against dings as well? Or perhaps this is a dealer specific offering?
