Manny is still there, wow, he must be the guy with the longest tenior there. Bought 3 cars from JMK over the last few years, good shop, and much improved with the new facilities.

JMK in New Jersey right? Yeah mine took 2 months to come in because I ordered it in the summer and they took off a month in Aug! But it was well worth the wait! How I got through it was I kept tabs on where the car was. Kept checking the website and also tracked it from when it was put on the boat until it pulled into port. I knew the exact day when it was coming. I guess because I felt involved with the cars process it kept me busy and help me with the waiting! Good luck with it the car is awesome you are going to love the 7spd DCT. The greatest Auto you will ever drive! So smooth and is quicker than a manual!

As this is my first time waiting for a car I'm certain I will be checking on it daily...LOL
Manny left for a few years but is now back "home" I ordered the Lemans blue, DCT, Msport, Premium, HK and heated seats It is unbelieavable how close this car feels to my 99 e36 M3, although it has another 60 HP and, get this, another 2 (yes TWO) gears. The e36 had no overdrive so it reved high cruising. It feels, to me, that it's as quick as my 04 e46 Last edited by X-M3driver; 11-16-2010 at 06:12 PM.. |

Does the old adage about 'watched kettle never boils' apply similarly to tracking your build?!
Sorry, I'm sure that doesn't help. Congratulations, hope the wait isn't too bad. Just start planning the drives you're going to enjoy when you do get the car. Graeme |

will be interested to hear how it compares with you e36m. my e36m was a while ago, but it was a car that had much more connection to the road than the isolated 1 if it's even half as good as i remember.
the 1 suspension and the run flats are a lot of compromise to me, plus the bushings and isolation are huge. Hit a bump and you're fingers will never know, load up in a turn and have an undulation and you probably won't feel that either. To me steering feel is the biggest thing lacking in this car that used to be there. The suspension is softer; of all the cars i had, the zhp was the best balance for a daily. smoother than m3 either e36 or e46 yet quick ratio steering with decent feedback, and great handling. It took coilovers, and non rfts to bring this 135 to handle the local twisties at same speed as the zhp.

Plus the car really needs the M3 suspesion bits, and rear subframe bushings too (which i haven't done yet) plus while you're there a LSD to begin to get that M3 feel. Steering and slop in the suspension is still there now, it's just better. My M3 when the RTAB were worn had the same squirrelly feel the 1 has in the rear. Replaced with poly and it was night and day. That M had 65k on it, this car 6k (and i know it's the gumballs that come from the factory) BMW keeps moving it's cars upscale and more luxurious to keep up with the sloth of the american public. The only time the engineers get even a chance at the BMW heritage is in the M models.
