OT Pointless Thread: Anybody been hit by a mango?

So I'm cruising around and out of nowhere I hear a loud bang because I hit something. At first I thought I ran over a dog or cat. Turns out as I was driving under a huge mango tree a mango fell, hit my bonnet, jumped up and fell through my sunroof and into my backseat and left mango juice everywhere... Actually I didn't realise the mango was in my car until later when I was cleaning it out

So anyways, I was just wondering if anybody else has had any embarrassing moments with their sunroof open or top down?

How ironic that you'd reaise this now. My son has just come back from a medical placement in yeppoon in Qld.

He was only commenting last night about how they had a number of folks (mostly kids), with "burn-like" markings on their faces from mango sap (not mango juice. Apparently it's almost acid like in it's effect - albeit more mild than some acids.

Make sure you clean it up well - just in case.

Nah luckily it didn't. It did give me a bit of a scare... I'm just glad it wasn't someone's pet cat or dog. I think if it hit the windscreen there's a good chance it would have cracked though.

Once a bird crapped right on my pant leg when I was stopped at a light under a bridge with my top down!!!! I was very happy he didn't get my head (or the car).

Nothing like getting a huntsman crawling on the back of your head while driving at night.

No sh*t! I got crapped on by a seagull whilst stopped under a bridge in Brighton,UK back in 1994. I remember looking up at the little bugger thinking "wouldn't it be funny if......" Splat....right on my shoulder.

Ive gotten hit by birds before with the top down.

But heres a funny one. I was pulling out of driveway and going slow up the block (the car was cold and I was doing ~ 5 mph) when my dog ends up on my lap

He apparently followed my out of the house and I didnt realize it.

Yeah this happened to my uncle! His face was burnt really badly from harvesting them.

It would not surprise me if this is either a UV sensitization of the skin, or attack by a proteolytic (protein-destroying) enzyme in the mango sap. Paw paws contain papain enzyme, as do pineapples, and they will rapidly break down meat. Put a piece of chicken next to a chunk of fresh pineapple or paw paw, and it rapidly goes all soft and floury. Papain is the active ingredient in meat tenderizer.

Mango trees are deadly!! was in FNQ for a holiday 2 weeks ago and my wife and i are walking to one of those fresh water gorges where you can swim without dieing as easily as in the ocean and nearly got killed by 3 mangos falling from the tree above as a gust of wind hit. scariest thing is you cannot hear a thing untill they explode beside you and cover you in pulp. there are so many ways to die up there.

A few years ago, my wife and I were going through dairy country in Victoria after it had rained a little.

A 4WD went passed on the opposite lane at the same time both cars traversed a cow crossing...

The next thing we knew, small but wet pieces of dung were splattered over the windscreen. Crikes man, the sunroof was fully opened and we looked and looked for any sh-t in the car for a few minutes but did not find any luckily.

We went to the nearest (Camperdown) car wash we could find!

Nowadays, I press the re-cycle air button and close the sunroof every time we go past a cow crossing, rain, shine or in clear traffic! Hehehe...

I've never been hit by a mango, however I have hit a few myself. Can't stand the bastards; every time I go past one in wollies, I just have to lay one on them!

Had a golf ball come through the window at full pace and ricochet around the car like a bullet. No unintended fruit interaction though. And here in Adelaide I reckon the odds of mango attack are small.
