that is assuming one could get close enough to touch it.

all i got to say is, after all this teasing and hype, those damn corona rings better be hyper white leds like on the 335is, not the yellow halogen bulbs that get dimmer when you turn on your xenons. That is only marginally better than the poor audi sap whose led strip turns completely off when you use the turn signal.

if they are yellow halogen, then luis better study up on cracking 1-series lights open too

I'm in agreement with this, it puts the 1-M squarely between the starting 135 and M3 prices.

One would also assume that this also likely means that the HP is going to roughly split the difference as well?

I thought someone from BMW (SCOTT26?) told us a few months ago that the optimal wheel diameter for the 1M would be 18". But here we clearly see 19"??

The O-Fest banquet "unveiling" was anti-climactic. Evidently the Mpower.com video was released 24 hours too early (per un-named NA individual I spoke with) They rolled the 1M into the tent with the special cover on and that was about it. Dr. Siegler gave a short speech and one of his goals is to have a younger age group to be able to get into/afford this new M series car.

Not much new to show on the exterior but I did get a few underside shots of the rear. Quad muffler exhaust, not two catbacks....nice cooling vents on the rear diff>

Would you mind expanding on this please? It's true my M3 didn't destroy any calipers on track, but the lack of brake cooling meant it killed the track pads too, once I started getting into the 140-150mph range.

If done right, this would be the intake for the brake cooling, followed by a similar vertical extractor on the other side (front fender). There does seem to be a vertical gash in the front fender, hopefully it's not simply cosmetic...

I hope they remove the stickers off the rotors before they deliver the cars.

Edit: Sticker is on the brake shield.

That's a sticker on the brake shield, not rotor I think.

"As previously reported, motivation will likely be provided by a twin-turbo N54 inline-six with at least 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp). It will be mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission, which should allow the 1-Series M to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 4.5 seconds."

I'm pretty sure that's a dust shield, not the rotor. It's not smooth.

Be funny if some punk pulled the cover off and reveals rest of the car is made of chocolate cake, then I will proceed to eat it! All of it!

yes, the "unveiling" was very underwhelming. we were hearing this hype all week and all they show is a headlight. they did say that the color is new and wont be available until this car comes out, which Dr Siegler said was going to be "late next spring" and that the color will become a classic. as stated before they mentioned a lot about bringing M cars back to the younger enthusiasts, so hopefully that means a lower price range.

they also said next years M3 will have a new Stop/Start feature where the car will automatically shut off the engine while stopped at a red light, and then when you push the gas it starts up again and goes...

this sounds pretty stupid to me and their reason is even dumber, because apparently BMW enthusiasts want better mpg with the M3. i'm sorry, but if you are buying an M3 it's not for the gas milage, and if you're really that worried about it then you shouldnt be buying one.

maybe i'm upset because there was so much hype this week and we didnt get to see much. i must concede that it is great marketing. they plan on revealing it piece by piece around the world at different events with the final piece coming off at the Detroit Auto show. i am still really excited for this car and cannot wait to hear some REAL details

Vent behind front wheel arch.

Edit: Maybe just lower panel, and not vent.
