What would be your second car?
I'm sure many of us have given thought to this for the run around / dump at the station.
Pre-requisites in my mind are: - Economical / Reliable - ~10k OTR (or less for third party insurance) - Not the type of car I would want to modify - Doesn't cramp ma style I'm partial to: Honda Accord Euro - Gen 7 Mitsubishi 380 VRX? Something with hail damage lol If you have one, what is it? If not, what are your thoughts?

Since I don't have to leave my car at the station my primary priorities would be:
- Easily holds 5 or more adults - Practical and lots of load space. As such I's go for either a Land Rover TD4 or a 5 Series Touring Diesel. Having said that, Neither of these things is high enough on my list at the moment to justify a second car... |

My 1er currently only holds 2 people and is pretty damn loud so I'd probably pick a car which can carry more people and things more easily and is a bit more luxurious. In saying that though, I don't think I could really give up having crazy power on tap so my dream second car would be an E60 M5.

I bought a mitsubishi verada as a daily hack leave at the pub car, and its blown my mind for how cheap parts are!
I reckon I would prefer a accord euro over a 380, albeit if you want room the 380 would be a good option. |

I've got a 1996 Toyota Corolla conquest for my 2nd car. 190k on the clock and going strong, always use it when i know parking is going to be a b*tch and any chance of the 1er getting damaged. Can be a bit embarrassing though as it's not the best looking car and gives the impression i'm a poor homeless person. :-)

My weekender is a Toyota Hilux ute. You can't imagine how handy it is to take to the dump or the weekend Bunnings run. Dont have to worry if some douche parking beside me is going to dent my car. actually, others are probably scared of me.... respect! I'm doing some landscaping at another house at the moment and its saving me a lot of money in delivery fees. When I travel for work, I'll leave that at the airport. Service it once every two years.

My trusty hack wagon is a good old Toyota Hilux Surf 2.8 oil burner.
I purchased it in 1992 with 1,600km on the clock back then it was our number one vehicle. It has towed race cars all over NZ, During my farming days even had the odd Sheep, Goat, and dogs in the back. It knows the way to Bunning's and the kids learnt to drive in it they still love the old girl and always borrow it. You can park it anywhere and there is no chance of a speeding ticket as it is so slow, but can go where no man has gone before. Now the workshop runabout with 250,000km it is still a great old truck. I would be happy to drive it across Australia tomorrow, those old Toyotas just never die. |

I've got a Toyota Avalon (grandpa spec) I use as my leave at the train station and not worry if it gets scratched up car haha
I used to have a 7th Gen Accord Euro Luxury and absolutely loved the car.. you can probably find one now around the 10k mark with nearly as many luxuries as the 1er (heated seats, auto wipers, 100 airbags, HIDs etc). EDIT: Going to use this as an opportunity to show off my old euro ..damn i miss her |
