I remember this from when I had a mini - didn't need it as I had a full alarm. However, my 135i vert does not have an alarm, nor is it prewired so I want to turn the clown nose on - which is similar to what was done with the mini (there the blinking LED is on top of the tach)... Anyone know if this will work? I have to resurrect all my NCS stuff so I can't just try it any time soon....

Okay, I can now confirm that it is possible to use NCS Expert to enable the blinking alarm light - even you don't have the alarm system!

All you have to do is modify one setting in the KOMBI and SPEG modules. The initial setting will be:

Code:
DWA_VERBAUT
nicht_aktiv
Change this setting in both modules to read:

Code:
DWA_VERBAUT
aktiv
For reference, DWA_VERBAUT = "Diebstahlwarnanlage Verbaut" = "Theft Alarm Installed".

Code those changes, and that's it - the light on the tach will blink when the car is locked using the remote. Opening a door or the hatch will cause the hazard lights to flash, but there's no audible alarm (unless you have the siren installed). There appear to be settings to enable flashing the headlamps as well, but I have not tried those - I figure the blinking light will be a sufficient deterrent to keep anyone from trying to break-in in the first place.

I would love for someone to post the absolute handheld baby noob way to turn off the double door pull after turning off the car, and the way to turn off the ambers from ever running besides when signaling a turn.

until that happens I'm not buying the cable because I'm scared of german :P peeti i wish you had of posted about that instead of the blinking alarm :P

well Phren - if you can rally the troops to figure out if my thing is possible, that will push me into getting my system back together. Once I do, I can do a comprehensive writeup.

Do you mean to say you want to know how to make the car not autolock itself when it reaches a certain speed?
The only way to open the door with one pull is if the doors are already unlocked.

someone mentioned having the car unlock itself after you hit the stop engine button so only 1 pull was needed.

Finally had success myself!!
2008 135i; Coded the following:

• Digital Speedometer
• Close windows and moonroof with key fob
• Disable amber corner lights when headlights are on
• Double Blink hazard lights
• Disable driver seatbelt warning
• Disable seatbelt chime
• Enabled EfficientDynamics (Shift Indicator)
• Enable auto-headlight sensitivity setting in board computer
• Disable key-in-ignition chime

Before you give me a hard time about disabling the seatbelt chime:
In over 18 years of driving I have honestly never driven without wearing a seatbelt. However, in the same 18 years, I've developed a habbit of starting the engine first and then putting on the seatbelt before leave the garage. Of course the car complains about this which is very annoying. Well WAS anyway! .

Does anyone know how to code out ambers when unlocking car or when turning on ignition?

Also is it possible to test AC compressor using INPA?

Could any one of you post the details for us noobs in coding?
I assume it involve a cable and software.
Where to get them?
How hard is it to do?

I used mostly the codes from this spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...CPqY7sEC#gid=0

But some were different on my 1 series.

Feel free to contribute to this new spreadsheet with what's been working for you:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...WaUVWS1E#gid=0

I'll try to add more later.

The software and daten at bmw-coding was all out of date for coding a 2011 1er. This is the newer software that I scrounged together that ended up working: http://www.christopherkriens.com/share/CODINGAPPS.zip

I went to a local BMW Dealership to recode my key fobs with a printed copy of this thread.. and they had absolutely no idea how to do this.

Who am I supposed to go to properly code for some of these features?

If I purchase the cable, download the software, and configure based on the codes posted above - is that just about it? Is it difficult to DIY?

Thanks in advance!

Bmw dealership is the last place that will do this.

I can remotely code for you, if you're interested, send me a PM.

So I have some coding updates!
Using NCS Dummy, which is a helper companion tool to NCSExpert, I was able to disassemble the module programming for an X5's Idrive, and enable Video in Motion! For my own car, I successfully tuned the DRLs so I have angel eyes alone in front and nothing at all in back. Looks good. Also increased the angel eye brightness in DRL mode.

Next little projects...
- Change auto turn signal from three to five blinks (also needs a disassembly).
- Change brightness of lights when using the ParkLicht function (this illuminates one side of the car to mark your position on the side of the road, I want to reduce the brightness of the taillight, and use the side marker as the front marker, and turn off the angel eyes).
- Change angel eye brightness at night to be a little more white, when Xenons are on.
- access radio settings using the Can-Most gateway. Would love to have weather and working.

Coding does take a fair amount of research, but once you get going, it is good fun and not really that difficult.

Please tell me more about NCS Dummy! I've become accustomed to NCS Expert and made many coding changes to my car, including retrofitting HID headlights. But, I'd love to dig deeper and this is the first I'm learning of NCS Dummy, though I've heard the name thrown around a few times.

Took quite a while to be honest. But unlike my previous cable, this one just worked.

NCSDummy reads in your .man file and can show you every possible answer for different codes. For example, not everything is aktiv or nicht_aktiv... Sometimes the answer is wert0x where x could be from 1 to whatever. Sometimes the answer is word, like hart_einschalten or panik_alarm (two that happen to come to mind).
