One problem with cases like this is that you can't lock your phone into the snap-in adaptor unless you remove the case - which is sometimes a PITA.

You have the snap-in adapter? Perhaps you can help me out with my query: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299443

Hi Cozza - The snap-in adaptor charges your iPhone but you cannot access the music. Bit stupid really considering the Y-cable lets you access the music but does not charge the iPhone!!

I wish the snap-in adaptor was not located in the arm rest but situated somewhere handy where you could access the phone - eg: for activating the Dynolicious or Trapster apps. I would even go for a vertical iPod/iPhone dock on the dash!

Agreed, stupid.

I've found an Australian company that sell mounting click-on brackets for the 1er, as well as iPhone supports. I've used their products before (in my Honda Euro). The iPhone holder is adjustable and would work well for the Dynolicious app.

amk2912 I have 3 iPhones and 2 Y cables and all the iPhones charge in our 1 series and 3 series. Once in a while I need to uplug the phone and plug it back in again to get it charging.

My iPod used to charge with the Y-cable in my 135i but it won't charge in the M3. I have read somewhere that the sly buggers changed the pin configuration so that the iPhone wouldn't charge with the Y-cable in the E9x series.

Hey, amk2912, how did the bluetooth work in the 135? Fine? Was it a 3GS or 'just' the 3G?

I'm looking at upgrading my phone and can't wait any more for the one I want, so the iPhone is on the look-at list. I understand that I can't play music through the headunit and use as a phone, but the nano or touch can stay to do that if needed.

Simon....

Hi Simon...Bluetooth worked fine in the 135i but I was using a Nokia 6230i. Never had any problems. I only recently changed to the iPhone 3Gs and have therefore only used it in the M3. The bluetooth works fine but the ringer volume takes a bit of fiddling to set.

I have an HTC Touch and bluetooth works great, but I also had a NextG phone for a while that hardly worked at all, hence my reluctance to drop just over 1000 big ones and then find it doesn't work properly.

One of the guys at work has a 3GS, maybe I'll drag him along to the car at lunch time.

Cheers,

Simon....

So AMK - I thought the whole point of the snapin adapter was that we could access music/phone/charge at the same time....

Basically... all it seems to be doing is charging and aerial integration...

Well...yeah. It's a bit of a rip. I would have thought the snap-in adaptor would do ALL the functions, considering the sucker costs about $180!!

Another pain in the butt issue is that you have to remove any covers from the iPhone before you can put it in the adaptor.

It would be perfect if the Y-cable did it all......but then they wouldn't sell any snap-in adaptor!

Yup, totally agree. I doubt it's a case of "we can't" and more a case of "we don't want to". We just need the MD at BMW to get an iPhone and then we'll be set.

I have the ION carbon fibre one as posted by the OP.

Btw, for anyone looking to buy a CF case, don't buy those full carbon once like the OSIR one posted above. It reduces your signal strength. Youtube it if you don't believe me.
