Tire Pressure Monitor

When I change my RFT to air filled tires do I need to do anything about the Tire Pressure Monitor? How does it monitor the tire pressure? Responses appreciated.

Lol @ air filled tires! TPMS works the same regardless of type of tires.

Your runflat tires should be filled with air. If you switch from runflat tires to regular tires your TPMS will continue to work just as they do know. The sensor is mounted inside the wheel.

I guess my question should have been more precise. I know both have air. I guess what I was curious about was the location of the monitor points and is the psi the same for both types of tires. Just like when the psi falls below a certain amount made me wonder about the psi of the reg tires compared to the RFT.

Tks for you comments.

You don't have to do anything to the TPMS (except reset it with new tires) and the pressure is the same for RFT and non-RFT.

Had the Michelin PSS mounted and could not be happier. The ride was quieter and smoother. I thought the turning response, to pot holes etc, was just as good as the RFT.

Some choose to fill their tires with Nitrogen as opposed to air which is 79% oxygen, 19% nitrogen and 2% trace elements such as argon.. etc....
But nitrogen is used during the winter months so the PITA TMPS system doesn't go off constantly when the temperatures drop 2 degrees overnight.

Had mine mounted yesterday. went with 225/40-18 255/35-18's
Only have about 50 miles on them but they are smoother and quieter as you mentioned. After they are broken in the real fun starts.
Michelin is having a spring rebate of $70 when you buy four. Mine cost $925 -70... $855 out the door.
