What is this symbol?

Sorry about the huge pic. I looked in my manual and I am pretty sure this was not in my maintenance menu prior to getting the N55 DCT recall/update done a couple months ago. Anyone know what this is?

"Roadworthiness inspection". Come on, isn't it obvious?

You are due for a Safety Inspection. If your province or locality doesn't require it, then look up "Service Requirements" in your owner's manual for instructions as to how to reset the date so the icon won't come up again.

(If the SS was at the rear of the car, it would signify an Emissions Inspection.)

Actually, it's saying that the inspection is due November of this year

Right you are and you are right it really isn't obvious either.

I finally found it in the 2011 US online owner's manual as I didn't see it in the Canadian manual(may have missed it though)

Odd that they added it in as an afterthought up here, especially since my province has no inspections required for safety or emissions. I imagine they will just reset it when it comes up or I will have to figure out how to do that on a non-iDrive.

Thanks for the responses.

That symbol is for service due. ie: service inspection.

IF you look in the service maintence book (or the owners opperating manual) you will see the symbol listed.

And yes... our car will do almost 280 kph. Well... 250kph/155mph stock. I hear a flashed 135i will do 294 kph.

As I purchased my CPO '07 328i in a state which has periodic Safety Inspections and my state has only Emissions, I had the warning come up. Although I reset the date on mine through iDrive (to Sept., 2020 so I won't see it again anytime soon), the following seems to work as well:

1. With the stalk lever, bring the Safety icon up on your dash as in your pic.
2. Push and hold the end (BC) button until the month is highlighted.
(You must hold the button as momentarily pushing it returns you to the various computer items.)
3. Adjust as necessary with the lever.
4. Push the end (BC) button and the year will be highlighted.
5. Adjust the year with the lever.
6. Push the end button and "Reset" should be shown.
7. Push the end button to confirm.

The new date you have set should now be shown when you scroll to it and a warning will not come up until near that date. Naturally, you can repeat the process if a spurious Emissions Inspection icon appears as well.

This just worked on my '07, hopefully it will do the trick on your '11 and you won't need to bother the dealer.
