Last week two days in a row I have strangers came up to me commenting my car.
The first one was at a gas station, the guy (he has a Cooper S)was staring at my car as soon as I pulled in. When I got out, he was nodding his head smiling and said :" This is my favorite car. My friend I know what this is, I know what this is....." The next day while I was talking to a colleague (VW Jetta owner) in a parking lot after a meeting, this guy came up and appologized for interrupting us. He said he wanted to say hi to the owner of the BMW M3 LOL! I told him it was a 1M and he said "whatever, it's a M car and it's beautiful, must be new like 2013???...". Unlike the first guy this person doesn't know the 1M but he still appreciates the car and I gave him a 1M 101 lesson. |

Youngster with a scooter frantically following your car in city traffic, with his right hand on the gas and his left hand holding his smartphone filming the car in movement ...and almost crashing into you at a traffic light stop.

I was in my Melbourne Red M235i and a AW 1M flew past on the M25 yesterday evening to only slam on their brakes and slow down to take a good look front and rear. All passengers in the car were taking in the delights. Again a little embarrassing but funny at the same time. The 1M was nice too but I had my family so no games!
Both rare as unicorn poo running side by side by the off chance. Just thought I would add a funny paradox to your posts |

last week I took my 1M in to a dealership to get it serviced. for 30+ minutes I had techs and salespeople continuously coming up to me to talk about the car....and standing in the garage discussing it and gawking at it. That was just while trying to drop it off!! haha. for a 3 year old car, it sure attracts a lot of attention....even at a BMW dealership!

You know your 1M is special when... You buy an F10 M5 two weeks ago, and decide to sell it because it's not a match for the 1M.
God knows the kicking i'm going to take but i'm going to be putting the 1M into everday action from now on! - Lifes too short to keep it wrapped up in cotton wool and only use it now and then! |

My experience is the same: every time I go anywhere somebody is sweating my ride. I have to admit feeling a bit smug when I roll into the dealership and customers on the lot start gawking. |

2 occasions worth highlighting i suppose:
on a saturday morning, few months after buying the car, i m at the petrol station filling up the tank when a guy starts coming closer without taking his eyes off the car, when he s finally close enough he says: "i absolutely love the 1m, i m a car journalist for the XXXXX website and i ve driven more than 100 cars, in terms of satisfaction i got from driving it s really on par to some of the best supercars i ve driven, so dont you ever ever ever sell it!!!" he wasnt one of the famous ones, but since i have unfortunately not had the chance to drive the cars he mentioned, i just proudly took his words for granted!! a couple of months ago i was driving home on this small avenue some 5-7 blocks from my flat and i see from the rear mirror a police car speeding up and approaching me, i move to the right lane so he can pass me, but the lights turn red and i have to stop the vehicle, the police officer stops right next to me and asks me to lower my window... instantly i start thinking "holy crap, did i do anything stupid while driving? probably not.... am i driving too fast??? nah, cant be speed.... am i wearing seatbelts?? yes i am...oh maybe my new exhausts is too loud???" turns out he just said he s a really big fan of the 1m and wanted to check with me whether my n54 was stock or if it had, according to his own words, some nasty mods!! we chat for a few seconds, he gives me the thumbus up, compliments the car and takes off!!! |

On my trips to the ring (just recently for N24hr), I find the 1M grabs a hell of a lot of attention on my drive through Belgium by many on the motorway, from camera phones, thumbs up and even head out the window coaxing you on to give it some. You guys love the little M |

After two years of ownership you know how special the 1M is every single time you drive it - only owners will understand this!
So many admiring looks and positive comments and deservedly so. Also from a selling perspective you know how special a 1M is when you come to advertise it for sale (after two years of ownership and 14,000 miles) and sell it within 48 hours to a BMW dealer for pretty close to full asking price and make almost £4,000 profit in the process! Don't think thats going to be repeated in a hurry... Chris

During maintenance, the dealer asked me to contact him first if I ever consider selling my 1M. He told me that the 1M is one of the least depreciating cars he ever experienced throughout his whole career. A gem to be cherished and treasured.
