LCI halogen tail lights
SO i bought a pair of brand new halogen LCI tail lights(same style as the 1m/ 2012+) for my HALOGEN equipped 128i.. they looked identical in every fashion and EVERYTHING worked on them EXCEPT the stupid parking lights. the parking lights won't light up no matter what i do. I understand the factory ones have the three LED strip across it, but on these new ones i have no idea what acts as the parking light, and how i can get it to work. Every bulb was working but i just can't get the parking lights to work. any ideas?
edit: they're blacklines. Last edited by 631twentyeighteye; 08-31-2012 at 03:35 PM.. |

after reviewing every damn LCI/black line topic i could fine, i understand the strip doesn't light up like the xenon versions do, okay thats fine i don't care much about that anyway.. which leads me to determine the singular bulb in the top corner of the tail light unit is the one that should be activated as the parking light, yet it doesn't like up when i switch to parking lights. my build date is 11/09, which i've found is AFTER the swap so they should work fine. this is frustrating the hell out of me. anybody?

Sounds like you ordered... #63217327276 & #63217327275 Blackines right? Those are for Halogen cars and have no LED tubes for the tail lights. Instead you use your factory (yellow) bulb(s).
I guess you did not see my post #249... (also see my other later posts... like #259) http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...klines&page=12 IF you want the LED tubes to light up... you need the blacklines for a Xenon car. 63217327273 63217327274 or the kit #63212225282 lci blacklines (for xenon cars). The 282 kit is a little bit cheaper than order the lights by themselves.

That's not really my concern, wouldve been nice if they lit up that way but whats done is done. I just can't figure out why the eff my parking lights dont LIGHT UP. i literally have zero lights on in the tail lights when the light switch is moved to anything where they should be on. here's a picture i grabbed for explanation.

I don't these these have an led tube in them since they're the halogen models. Any chance you'd have a link to a write up so I could compare them?

if you got halogen version of blacklines, you dont have an led :/
Parking light for you would have to be the outermost lightbulbs from the cars center There maybe a guide on babybmw.net forums for hatchback wiring, sorry I just saw people comment that that had to do.

I've been searching babybmw.net for an hour now and i can't find any wiring write up. i still don't get why i'd need to wire or code my halogen car to put halogen tail lights in. everything works perfect except the parking lights.

BMW also makes a adapter cable... but that is only for early builds. But most say they don't need it.

Gave up and ordered the xenons. 2 brand new halogen black lines for sale. I think these will only work on 12+ models that have halogens.

I believe that the new halogen equipped '12 cars connectors (cars/lights) differ from the xenon connectors seen in previous model cars if I am not mistaken...

They're plug and play, but you gotta get the correct lights. I have a halogen headlight car but I have LED rears (the socket for the parking lights have two little terminals on them - those power the LED tubes and make the connection for the bulb). Make sure you get the right set for your car - I emailed pics to Shmiedmann and they said they're looking into it. I think they're learning that there is a difference in the US cars. See pics here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=741038
I now have a set of LCI Blacklines that won't work on my car. Gladly sell them to anyone if you have the non-LED tube tails.

So... has anyone else installed LCI tails or LCI Blacklines on a car with Halogen headlights.
I know IF you order the LCI's for a halogen car the LED tubes do not light up. I know this, bc that is what I ordered by mistake for my car!

So what did you do>? My dealer was cool enough to return the lights I ordered and order me a set of the #282 Blackline kit for Xenon cars. That is what I ended up installing in my car and they are AWESOME!!
SO.... has anyone installed the Xenon kit on a halogen headlight car? And do the LED tubes work?

I have a 2010, I don't know whether I have halogen or Xenons; BMWVIN says I have Xenon's and my build date was 02/2010.
I just installed the LCI blacklines from Schmiedmann. Once it stops raining I will check my LEDs to see if they are lighting up. If they aren't I'll be in the same boat as 631, I'm hoping that is not the case.
