2011 Navigation Update (cic Hdd Cars)
Trying to organise a great group buy price for the latest map update (2011) for the Australian region.
For the first buy, we will just do customers in Metro Sydney as your car may need software updates to work with the latest maps. At this stage only Advan or a dealer can do the necessary updates. Should your car require these updates we will arrange a fixed price through Advan. Dealerships sometimes take 2 days for this update, so you can imagine the cost The actual NAV update takes a few hours and will include the BMW Navigation Map Certificate (unique code like a software key that is required to activate maps). Car will be running while update takes place (up to 3 hours). Without disclosing exact price, I would like a roll call of those who are at least interested. To get the ball rolling. Unfortunately, this update is just maps and poi's. From now on, firmware updates for CIC will only be performed through the fibre optic port due to the high risk of bricking with disks. Again, Advan or BMW can perform these updates normally just for the price of shop time. |

I should also point out, the update can be interrupted, spaced out, power lost and it will just continue where it left off.
Thankfully BMW made CIC updates very safe. CCC units on the other hand are very temperamental. Don't quote me on it, but if you have a 6FL interface the update is off USB. For non 6FL its by DVD's. (6FL is the USB/3.5mm sound option that works with ipods and usb sticks, in your center console) |

I'm keen to get the actual map DVDs (or USB files for download if you wouldn't mind uploading somewhere). The FSC code can then be sourced online via GPSunderground.com for about $100. I'm assuming this group buy is going to be way beyond that price.

Hi, my wife has an April 2010 BMW 123d coupe, with "606 Navigation System Business" fitted. We have not updated maps since buying the car.
No 6FL according to the order sheet - 606, and 6NF. There is a USB socket and 3.5mm socket in the centre console though. We are in Brisbane. Would also be keen to be able to update with speed cameras, etc - is that do-able? Luster - what do you provide for the $192 - nav discs and a FSC code? How do we know if the unit needs a firmware update? |

Some info for those interested in updating maps:
Just updated my 2009 CIC Professional maps to 2012 via one of the gpsunderground sellers. His email is ***************** I emailed asking him to price match fscmap.com price ($50USD) as he seemed to have a better rep and accepted paypal. He will give you a link to his ftp server with the AU map update data (2.4GB) to download which you then put on a usb. Paid via paypal and within 5mins received the FSC code. The update then takes around 10mins via the glove box usb connection, key in the FSC code and away you go. Pretty happy with that, BMW charge $500 for this service, outrageous thievery as is their trademark. |
