Deposit amount?

This is my first time buying a brand new car and i have no idea what dealerships are charging for a deposit. Edmonton BMW charged me 2500, all my friends tell me that it was a lot for a deposit and usually its 500 . How much did you guys have to deposit to get your 1

$5000 on VISA, max amount they told me they would take on credit cards, which later I found out about the VISA merchant policies that is not true, they can't place a limit on how much they charge on your VISA...

Yeah I hate when they limit you but figure even 5k on your Visa cost them $85 at 1.7%.

I wanted to pay for my girlfriends Yaris ($19,200) on my American Express but they limited me to $5,000 as well... the rest had to be cheque.
