DTC Switch for the track
What are the functions of this switch?
Suggested positions for the track? I have played with the switch and read the instructions. When I push the DTC button in the middle of the dash, a DTC warning illuminates on the warning panel. I push it again and the light goes off. I read elsewhere that there are three functions DTC, DSC, and all off. It seems as if there are two. DSC sounds like stability control and is always on unless you switch it to DTC which sounds like traction control. Is this correct?

Lite off = all systems active
push and release the button will yeild DTC off (Dynamic traction control aka wheel spin) push and HOLD the button will yeild DSC off (Dynamic stabiltiy control) you will be able to slide and spin (drift) the car...DTC is also off in this mode. In a BMW with DSC off there is NO intervention from the car for ANY type of slide. Other car makers it will kick back in in extreme slides or if the car is about to roll. Most track bound drivers completly turn off the DSC for driving events, but be aware of what turning it off means. |

Thanks for the answer. I suspect I am being harrassed? I asked the question before I took the car to the track and unfortunately did not get an answer. I found the answer after I wrote my mini-track report (in the responses). The reason I asked the question is because I expected to have the skid pad to myself for quite a while and wanted to test all the functions.

eDiff mode is only available when DSC and DTC are deactivated, according to page 20 of the BMW internal document in this thread. A quote from it reads: Quote:

Pressing the button once turnsDynamic Traction Control on, not off. DTC is the system that allows some slip angle and some wheelspin, as opposed to "non-dynamic" TC, wich is what you hav before you press the button, that does its best to not allow any.
