BMW Club Qld Border Ranges Run

It’s less than weeks to go for our
premier road event of the year.

The Border Ranges run attracts the full array of club members and their cars.

Road conditions this year are ideal,
for this unmissable annual event.

When: Sunday 6th November

Meet: at the Calamvale Hotel car park from 8.00 am, drivers briefing at 8.30am

Convoy must leave at 8.45 am sharp.

Our route will include:
• A short 15 minute break in Rathdowney (toilets available)
• tackling the twisting climb on the Mt Lindsay Hwy up to the NSW border
• enjoying the sweeping corners of the scenic Summerland Way to Kyogle.
• At Kyogle, turn left for the rainforest views on the undulating drive to Uki.

Destination: Mt Warning Hotel/pub in Uki, NSW for a 12.30 pub lunch

After Lunch (at approx 2.30) there are two options for the journey back
• Option 1 -complete a scenic “ranges loop” by enjoying the climb up and into the Numinbah Valley, stopping for a coffee at the NV Café at 3.15pm. We will end up joining the highway at Coomera.

• Option 2 -cruise home via the Tweed and Gold Coast

Whether you're a club member or not, this is a great run. Hopefully (unlikely at the moment), I'm in town and can attend this year.

This sounds like fun... If I'm done moving house by then I might come along - since I joined a few weeks back...

I've been on this cruise, I think 2 years ago, and was a great day. Was quite a long day though so be prepared!

Not sure if I can make it but will commit closer to the date if possible.

Looks like fun!

I drove this route starting on the NSW side this time last year in my Golf GTI. I started from Lismore, headed west to Kyogle and then via Lions Road (big mistake due to poor advice) to Rathdowney, and then back into NSW via Mt Lindesay Hwy (13) and towards Kyogle through Dairy Flat/The Risk as mapped above.

The roads were pretty deserted when I went on my loop and the scenery is amazing. Road quality was in general, not too bad and the twisties were nice I drove pretty hard but slowed down on my return journey as I was running low on petrol 98 RON isn't too common around those parts!

Looking forward to some pics/stories

I'll be there. I've had to miss this event the last 2 years as the date clashed with other commitments but I can make it this time. Looking forward to stretch the cars legs, it's been a while

Speaking from experience, follow the car in front at your own peril (read: stone chips).

I have a few love marks from the last two years... but it was fun chasing Vic, especially the run into Kyogle

Hah! I was looking at a couple of photos of our two cars covered in mud just the other week

I'm 50/50 at the moment and will be letting the Club know over the weekend.

Count me in.

1. BMW86

Would be great if Matt, Tim and Angus could come along as well. Anyone else keen? I've missed this event twice but third time lucky and judging from the pics each year it looks epic

Planning on coming... Moving house starting tomorrow though and back to work the day after the drive so as long as I'm done with the move I'm in.

PS: My Kerscher Splitter was "delivered" today... I won't have it til Monday though because they couldn't be bothered knocking and just left a pickup slip in my letterbox about an hour ago... Idiots...

So I'll be showing that off

So if we do option 2, what time could we expect to be back in brisbane?

I might be able to make it, but need to be at Forest Lake around 4pmish...
