Engine
Long story but the original engine grenaded and a replacement engine is being ordered and installed in the coming weeks. It has 6K miles and is coming from a rear end wrecked car. Installation is being performed by a reputable BMW shop in Atlanta. The car is being kept inside at this time. BMW claims the previous engine damage was caused by my dropping a bolt or something when installing a charge pipe. Either way, it will be getting a stock engine and will be driven 800-1000 miles, have the oil changed, and a sample sent to BlackStone Labs for analysis.
---If, for some reason, you want to purchase the car as is please PM me immediately. I am putting a deposit down next Monday to get the engine shipped so if you let me know prior I will sell the car as is for 36K.

Track History
- I used PFC pads (stock pads have 80-90% remaining)
- Road Atlanta - twice with Chin MotorSports
- Sebring - 3 @ 20 min sessions (I had an enduro to race that night so I used the 1M to get a little seat time on the track before the race)
- Atlanta MotorSports Park - 1 day

I will be glad to send anyone seriously interested the in car videos of the track events. I never had a single off, spin, or incident. The car performed flawlessly and was never abused. I've never missed a shift or even ground a gear.

This car was delivered on May 9th, 2011. As far as I know it was the first 1M delivered in the USA, if not very close to the first.

I would greatly appreciate it if we could keep the conversation regarding the situation with the engine and BMW's decision out of this thread. I am biting the bullet on this as I cannot fight Goliath at this time. Let's leave it at that.

Thank you for your interest,
Dan

Dan - sorry to hear that you will be letting the 1M go.
Question - will the replacement engine impact or void the warranty?

I am inquiring with BMW regarding this. I assume they will not warranty the engine only.

The replacement engine is the N54T correct? Sux about the original, were you able to keep it?

Also, PM me about the track wheels and tires, my track buddy has an E92 that could use them.

I want your car...

Yesterday I stopped by the shop where my car is and put a deposit down to order the replacement engine. It should be road worthy in 2-4 weeks.
In other words, the option to buy the car "as is" is no longer available.

Here are a few pics I took while I was there.

It seems that it is the same engine from another (rear end wrecked) 1M, did you miss this part Dan posted:

...I figured but didn't want to assume. We all know it's a rare motor. For 36k I'd take the car with the blown motor. Looks like it's too late now.

GLWS, Dan.

FWIW, maybe specify the OEM options too (if no 100% stripper 1M).

Magnusson moss warranty act should apply.

Sorry to hear this Dan . agree fighting any dealer or independent shop over a mechanical failure usually results in the attorneys winning the race.

Beautiful car. I may be interested once the new motor is in. What happened when trying to have it warranted? What's the most recent word from BMW?

Really hate to comment on the warranty issue but once car is out of service for 30 days cumulative, you send a certified letter to BMW advising them that you are filing lemon law, fill out and send in the 2 page application in the booklet, and you will go to arbitration, without nothing to lose and the likelihood, they will at least go 50% on the repair.

As far as this thread, are you selling any of the performance parts (coilovers), or cosmetic upgrades (steering wheel), etc.

Best of luck to you in whatever develops down the road.
Rob
