I don't think that sanding the clear "off" is how they achieved this effect....yes.....you need to sand the original clear , but then you need to apply a semi gloss clear on top of the original surface....I think a better and cheaper way to get the same results is to have the vehicle wrapped with a flattened clear film....it's less money, you don't have to disassemble the whole vehicle and it's easily reversible....jmo....

Awesome thread and thanks for sharing so much detail. It's nice to see that these 1M's are getting a second chance. It sounds like you are keeping at least one for yourself. Are you planning on selling the other three or making them into various project cars? If only I had a little extra pocket change...

Fad? Maybe. Easy, relatively inexpensive, reversible, and great way to change the color of your vehicle? YES! |

Sounds about right. Though the pricing may seem high to most, any shop able to charge the high number in my experience is the higher quality shop... especially with regards to wraps... But either way, all wraps have their flaws. The paint protection film is much more $$$ than a vinyl for starters and clearly has its benefits over just laying down vinyl. After seeing the German car pics (frozen vo) I strongly considered wrapping in matte clear, had my vendor order me a sample sheet and wrapped the hood.... I liked it, but not enough to do the entire car... so i took it off. The frozen vo car in the pics looks great but, being that was what i expected... it was hard to settle for the outcome of the matte clear wrap.

This thread is awesome, it's cool to see the quality repair work of these cars. It also looks like you have me beat with 4 1M's, I thought I was the only person to own multiple 1M's with 2.
Looking at these pictures really makes me want one of these cars and do all kinds of custom work and a custom color. |

Are you willing to sell any of these cars once they are repaired?
I'd be interested in the AW that was not rolled over. - vp76122
