DCT + Leatherette: Does such a 135i exist?
Were any 135i built with the combination of DCT transmission and leatherette interior? It seems like such a 135i could have been available from 2012 on, and maybe even from 2011, but I've yet to see any evidence of it.
Worth noting, something like 2% of 335is (not 335i) were built with this combination, according to a production data spreadsheet I saw. |

They're definitely out there. A good chunk out there will be DCT as it seems almost only custom-ordered cars would get a manual for the most part. You may just have to expand your search and be willing to travel for a bit if you want one with leatherette. And sadly, you'll probably have to click on each and every one to see the full details. Even then though, I know when the dealer went to sell my first 135, they listed it as black leather even though it was leatherette. The dead give aways off the bat are that leatherette only came in I think black or taupe? So, if you see anything with coral red or terracotta or oyster or any of the two-tone interiors, it's not leatherette. I think you'd probably have an easier time finding one with leatherette out there though than manual. Check the forum as well as someone may be selling one. |

In 2011 when the DCT was first available, there was a "value package" offered that included leather and ipod and it was free. So you probably won't find many w/o leather since it was a free option.

Thanks for posting, guys. You give me hope of finding something similar. I've checked at least 75 VINs from autotrader, etc., with bmwarchive.org, and have yet to see a 135i with leatherette, let alone one with leatherette and DCT. It's okay; I'll persist. |

2012 DCT with leatherette, manual seats, no sunroof here. They do exist but you'll never get your hands on mine, I'm never letting her go!
You can tell leatherette by the lack of stitching on the thigh bolsters. |

I'm curious why you are so intent on the leatherette? Granted, it saves $1450-$2400 when buying new (or $0 in 2011), but not sure it has a huge impact if buying used. Obviously, a bunch of us prefer it and ordered ones without it to save a bit of money to be better put towards other things, but not sure it'd be a dealbreaker for me on a used one. |

Everyone already knows my full vin, so feel free to look up VY60054. It's also really sad I know my last 7 by heart. I'd love to see side by sides of leather vs leatherette on the thigh support to see the visual difference too. I never knew there was a difference. Also, I think I saw 1 or 2 for sale that had leatherette, but they didn't have the m sport package, which I would advise against getting because you really want that m-sport steering wheel and most notably, the sport seats. Comparing that photo, I see now. The leather has stitching on the side of the thigh bolsters that lead down to the extension piece. Compare the leatherette below to the coral red leather one underneath. Should help you not have to look up the vins anymore.
