Nice! I'm planning to go to my first autocross event this coming weekend. It's a novice event and I'm a complete newbie to any sort of motorsport so I'm excited.

What did you use to record this? Just a GoPro? Curious where you and Kyle are mounting the cameras.

Kyle, riddle me this, do the TireRack wheels have noticeably less clearance than the ARC8? The stock 6 pots clear my 17x8.5 ET40 ARC8 for miles, but with my 17x9 ET40 TR Motorsport wheels, the spokes are fine, but the barrel is VERY close.

I use a GoPro and a software called SoloStorm to help with analysis between runs. I mount rear driverside quarter window to see left side, through the windshield and my steering inputs

I’m finally getting the chance to go through the numbers on my first Auto-X (May 17 2015 Westerner) in what seems like forever. The event had two sets of runs and unknown to me until now it was the fastest run from each set that cumulatively made the days raw time.

Runs
ASP Duane J 2008 BMW 135i
Day 1 Set 1 65.518 63.145 (62.409)
Day 1 Set 2 62.490 61.524 60.246 (59.884)

Place and Raw time
34 ASP Duane J 2008 BMW 135i (122.293)
+16 seconds from leader (AS 2003 Corvette), and amazingly only +6.965 seconds from a SSM 2009 Nissan GTR

Place and Pax time
47 ASP Duane J 2008 BMW 135i 122.293 x 0.865 = 105.783

Fortunately there was another BMW 135i there, but not tuned so it remained in DS. We were very comparably matched in Raw time, but PAX treated him much better.

Place and Raw time
33 DS Kenneth P 2008 BMW 135i 121.965
34 ASP Duane J 2008 BMW 135i 122.293

Place and Pax time
29 DS Kenneth P 2008 BMW 135 121.965 x 0.812 = 99.036
47 ASP Duane J 2008 BMW 135i 122.293 x 0.865 = 105.783

Now some take aways.

-I am impressed overall with the car. I was afraid of wild over steer and a longer learning curve. The car feels remarkably planted ( tires considered) and able to turn quickly. Not one cone on the day means two things.... I'm not pushing hard enough, but I'm also able to feel the car at speed pretty well. The traction control mset to half was the way to go, as I kept breaking the tires loose anyway. For the foreseeable future, that is the setting I'll use.

-Tires were run at 44 PSI both front and rear.
- I didn't want to play with this much as I wanted to feel out the car and see how badly I drive before screwing with any of the variables. I will play with this in the
future, but have already started the search for a new set of rears.

-Classing
- I chose to stay in ASP with the AP married to the car. This obviously didn't do me any favours, but it did give me some valuable input on moving forward since
there was a very similar car there, and in the class I would be in without the AP. In DS I would be 6 seconds faster in PAX. (6 and change actually)
- In the SPREP classes only one competitor had a higher PAX modifier (SSP), So even among SPREP classes, ASP is pretty unforgiving to me/car as it currently
is.
- The extra 60 hp did very little for me. The tires broke loose so easily, and the boost came on too late to actually matter. I'll be changing on variable at a time
moving forward to increase the value of the data points.

This leaves me in the conundrum of how far to take the car, and if I should stay in ASP for the long haul. Next event I will likely stay in ASP with a new set of tires and get a few more data points. This year isn't about being competitive, but rather learning to drive again and finding direction for classing the car overall. There are still changes I can make to the car in DS and get more competitive, but for the moment, and for that day, I am satisfied.

Kgolf31 do you think your Kosei wheels can be run without rear fender work and just front camber plus spacer? Also On what tire size? 235?

I don't think so, even with a 235. Based on my personal test fittings, I think you're going to need to roll them.

F-Street, Which Performance Items were Port Options

Can anyone confirm that BMW Performance Suspension was an available Port Installed option on 2013 135i or 135is?

I'd really like to run that in F-Street, but want to have the documentation in case anyone protest the yellow springs.

It recently came to my attention that Port-installed options, which you could have ordered, are legal for SCCA F-Street.

Clarification
The SEB in conjunction with the SAC and the National Staff have been investigating the details of port installed
options for the Scion FRS MY 2013-2015. Specifically, the TRD lowering springs P/N PTR07-18130 and TRD Sway
Bar Kit P/N PTR11-18130. It has been determined both kits were available as port installed options for 2013-2015
Scion FR-S models, and thus they are compliant for use on a Scion FR-S in C Street

I'm trying to determine which BMW Performance products were Port Installed Options that could be ordered on the 2013 128i, 135i, and 135is.

When I ordered the 135is, the dealer said some of the BMW performance parts could be port installed. I only asked about the performance steering wheel with yellow band, it was not available for port.
At that time I thought the M-Sport suspension was the same as the BMW performance, or I would have asked to upgrade.

I understand there was a port installed LSD available for the Z4 35 but as far as I can find BMW has never offered a port installed LSD in the e82. Anyone know otherwise?

the e82 M performance carbon splitter and rear carbon spoiler look sharp, but I doubt that do anything at Solo speeds.

I did not order my 128, it came with Performance Suspension, pretty sure it was port installed. I like that suspension much better than the M-sport in the 135is.

Thanks

PS At regional events I'm having a blast running in F-Street against other RWD based cars. Camaro, Mustangs, Cadillac GTS, Lexus Type F. We've had around 8 drivers each event, and the Trophy times are all within 1 second.

classes I've run in the past, F-Prepared, STX, G-Street, were a mix of sizes and drivetrains, The course seemed to sort the cars by drivetrain a bit.

I don't think about BMW Performance accessories for the E82 were offered as a port option. I'd try to talk to a BMW rep somewhere to get documentation.

No LSD was even offered for the E82, so you're stuck with the E-Diff.

Had a T&T at Wilmington on Saturday, and a Points Event on Sunday.

Here's the T&T Video:

Points event yesterday at Wilmington.

Ran in the Pro Class, which was insanely awesome. Tons of competition and it was a total blood bath.

Ended up 5th in Class, and 5th in Pax out of 130+ total drivers. 5th sounds bad, but 1-4 consisted of 3 National Champions and 1 PAX Monster (O'Gorman, Montgomery, Giles, Pallotta)

Had faster run (alot of people did) but it was a very, very tough course to drive and everyone was hitting cones.

All in all, car performed really well. Excited for the Wilmington Pro next weekend.

the 128 looks good in STX.

Nice Site! Flat concrete pads looks a lot like Lincoln's surface. Nice to see the car opened up. Feathering in corners.

Both SOLO lots in Colorado are asphalt, have elevation changes, and only about 12-15acres.

I'll see what info I can get from my Dealership, on port options.

In the meantime I'll put a heavier FSB than the m-sport.

So far this season, I'm running ZII starspec 225F 255R on the 7.5 and 8.5 style 313 wheels. totally stock 135is. with a "Motorsports Alignment".
3 event so far scored 954, 928, and 938 points indexed against top pax which is always a pro/national champ.

Wilmington (and Toledo) are much different than Lincoln. It doesn't rubber in like Lincoln but a ton of grip. It's the holy grail of our area. There is a reason why Pros sell out in less than 5 minutes with these sites we have local access to.

I still fully believe the 128 can compete. Especially with past results from Toledo and Wilmington this week we shall see.

It'll be interesting next weekend at the Pro

I just went to a couple novice autocross classes this weekend, which was my first time doing autocross or any sort of motorsport and I now have new found respect for you guys on this thread who are being competitive. I was originally thinking of installing some suspension mods sometime this year but after that session, I can see that I definitely need way more seat time and practice pushing my stock car before I do anything to the car.

Great run! Keep posting these videos! Looking back on your videos now after the fact and focusing on your steering input + throttle inputs, it's very helpful for me in seeing how much more aggressive I can be, especially on the slaloms.

Good luck! The ProSolo format (for me) is super hectic, but goddamn is it also a lot of fun.

The car is acting really well.

Afternoon runs were wet, so everyone sat on AM runs.

Sunday looks dry tomorrow, so everyone will be gunning.

Nice results! The second place in STX is another 128i as well?

This lot continually owns me, I can never get the car to turn here. Played with tire pressures and rebound settings the whole time.
