Ah! Just saw that they're going to make a 2-series gran coupe?!

What a waste of perfectly good mineral grey paint in the picture, too. =(

Weird, most men seem to get enlarged penis syndrome when they come up behind me. But maybe that's just cause I'm so pretty.

Maybe most 2-series owners just got out of the pool?

You sold it? I didn't know! You had an almost perfect "is" out there. By almost, the only thing missing was the BMWP bumper + side skirts. I haven't driven my car for almost 4 days now and I'm missing driving it. It must be heaps worse for you.

Picked up X3 xDrive35i. Needed a bigger car and 3 cars for 2 people wasn't justifiable. I take out the Z4 more these days which is also fun but I miss the torque

LOL! I can just see you at the stoplight, laughing hysterically and pointing at them...

Interesting that R&T thinks the 228i target market is Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ and Mustang buyers, and it's not even good enough there!
the M235s encounter all try to show off to me....it's really pretty sad. I got cut off by a blue one a few weeks ago and so on the straight I left him in the dust...AND gave him a thumbs down as I rolled past him. lol

they seem to be driven by douchebags too....probably in it for the "M" badge.

then there was a woman at a 7-11 parking lot with a 228 Xdrive who said "mine is the new version of yours" and I said "not really" and she said "it is!" and I told her "this is a 1M not a 128" and she just sort of smiled and went the other way...awkward! lol

It just goes to show that many people do not understand how special a 1M is. From an M235i driver trying to look down on it (probably based on some big shot at BMW claiming that it will beat the 1M around the ring) to a lady (who usually do not understand what they or other people have...80% of 1er driver thought they had a front wheel drive apparently).

I've had this dude believe that my car is NOT turbo. I've had another person tell me that their (stock) 535i will whoop my lowly 135 because 5 > 3 > 1. If their 535 were a 528, it'd probably have been a good match (no, I didn't race the 535). But seriously, many people would actually believe or already think that E82s are hybrid, 4 cylinder, front wheel drive, with electric steering.

haha...so true. I think the general population are utterly clueless when it comes to even the cars they OWN. when i had the 135is, there was a guy in a manhattan parking garage who was waiting for his 335 and asked me "why would you buy a 135 if you could get the 335 for almost the same price and it's faster?" and i remember laughing and telling him the 135 would whoop the 335's all around....and he wouldn't buy it. *shrugs* wasn't even worth trying to explain it to him....

Aww. That's my big fear, is that even if I got a new car down the road that I thought might be better...to then regret it a few months later after the excitement and newness of a brand new car wears off and then I find myself missing the IS. I kinda had that happen with my S5 and after awhile, kinda missed my 135.

And to the others, heck, the BMW dealers are no better, while I was being attacked by salesman after salesman on the showroom floor as I waited for my car to be serviced, I loved one trying to sell me on their cars and I said, no thanks, perhaps I'll wait and see about the M2 when it comes out in a bit. "It's out now!!!!" he proclaims and points to the M235 convertible. Ummm, no.

It's a shame, BMW doesn't have a replacement for the is.
We have owned ours since the end of 2012, it's my Wife's DD. She likes small Cars and loves Combertibles, hers is a Coupe.

The thing is, we swung by our local. Dealership to see in real life what they have to offer, the M235i is too big for her, the Z4 is as well. So that, as far as I can tell, only leaves something like the Boxster...or?

on the flip side, I have had on many instances, random people giving me a thumbs up and i love your ride yell. however, when my wife drives my bad boy, she gets way more attention. I actually think shes getting hit on.... lol

I have typically always gotten a thumbs up/great car comment. As a matter of fact i brought my car in for the service the other day and i had numerous sales people, mechanics, etc., come up to me and tell me know much they love the 1-series and are disappointed with what the 2 is. The Service Manager actually called me over while waiting with some "news", he congratulated me and shook my hand for not only owning the particular car but driving it like it is supposed to be (my tires are all chunked up from track/autox/skidpad, my brakes are worn, etc.) and told me to pick out a hat/shirt from the store and he would cover the costs. He said roughly 98% of the people who purchase and service at their dealer never drive like their cars as they are intended (including M owners) and just buy the car to park in their driveway and tell others they own a BMW. I was utterly shocked and couldn't believe what was happening.

Funny. I agree that weirdly the service managers and some sales staff who know the cars seem to really appreciate my car when I bring it in and I mentioned the M235 in passing last time to see what he thought and he just kinda scoffed and rolled his eyes. In many ways I feel like it's the last car of an every dying breed, perhaps almost completely dead at this point, and why I almost never ever want to let it go, no matter what, in spite of some of its inherent flaws.

Although not an 'is I've gotten everything from the SA at my local dealer telling me I need to tune and mod it and drive it like it's supposed to be driven (which I do, I usually take everything off for dealer visits though), to the random guy coming out of a CVS with his family and hoping into a beat up old Chevy Suburban commenting to the effect of "Hey man, nice car. This is the 3 liter inline 6 right? Turbo or no Turbo? Dang this thing must be a lot of fun to drive."

I don't think I've ever had anyone notice or comment on my car, lol, but that's ok as that's not why I own it. I still think most people think it's the budget / poseur model.

Maybe I need to send my wife out in it with the top down....but then, she might never return or never be satisfied with her car again!

So hello everyone. I'm debating on the purchase of a CPO 2013 135is. I checked the list on here and the VIN and it checked out. I thought that they all had the blue stitching but I guess not. It's AW with Oyster and DCT. They want just shy of 35K for it with 42K on the clock. I'm just wondering if that's a fair starting point in the negotiations. I'm also looking at used E92/90 M3's but the running cost are a lot more. I'm old as dirt so insurance costs aren't an issue. I actually drive the crap out of my cars and won't own another car that doesn't make me smile when I hit the twisties or the track. I'm still learning the differences with the "is" versus the regular one too. The PPK2 and different tuning are both awesome as well as those sexy wheels.

I'm retiring from the Army after over 21 years and moving back to SC from Germany this summer. I need a new "fun" car with at least 4 seats. If my wife's car (pimpin minivan) wasn't going to be so late getting back to the states I would be searching for an M Coupe. Alas not the case. I just sold my 2013 Mustang GT Track package/RECARO car to a German friend of mine so I'm in need of something that isn't going to put me to sleep.

Cheers, Steve

135is in my area have always been listed in the high 30s... Usually $39k...
