I agree with Triji. The G35 coupe looks great, but the G35 4-door just doesn't do it for me. The tail lights on the sedan look more blocky, and so does the car, whereas the coupe looks very sporty. It's a grown-up 350Z dressed up in a sport suit.
Whatever you get, I am certain that something else will come out that will be "better" or at least different in one way or another. If/when the 335i comes out you may feel bad about your 330i purchase (I wouldn't feel bad). The G35 design has been out for a few years, so that will probably change sooner than the e90 body styling will. Another thing to consider. As for exhaust sounds, I love the sound of the Infiniti G35, FX35 and Nissan 350Z. It is very distinctive and I can always tell that one of those three vehicles is nearby just by the exhaust note. Very cool. Then again, I have had aftermarket exhausts on practically everything I have owned from Mustangs to Supras to MR2s to Z Cars and my Explorer. If I ever get a Minivan (which I doubt), I'll probably change the exhaust on that too. |

No one has any idea what the next gen G35 will bring. No one knows if one will even exist. Why do people want to compare cars that don't yet exist? My guess is that since Infiniti went through a minor change in 05, boosting the output and tweaking its looks, there won't be another change to this car until '08.
Whether the 3 series can hold its position at the top for its production run is an interesting question, but if the pattern for previous 3'ers hold true, I'd bet that BMW will tweak it just enough so that it stays at or near the top. |

This thread highlights the fact that the gap is closing, ever so surely between cars from all sources. I hope the Germans (for their sake) are beginning to wake up and recognize that the players are no longer confined to BMW, DB and Audi. Likewise, the Japanese manufacturers need to watch out for their competitors from Korea, etc.

I definitely agree. Gap is closing. Really fast. BMW will no longer be a solo player. I mean, look at how serious Lexus IS series are now. wake up bimmers!

Some pics I found on an Infiniti board...
Apparently it's out of some Japanese magazine, and among all the Japanese writing, we can see it says "4.1L 330ps"...and I have heard rumors about a 4.1L VQ. And before people that don't know start screaming about it saying it's a Skyline, the current G35 is the V35 Skyline in Japan. So it says V36 on this picture, indicating a new generation. There hasn't been any confirmation about these pics, though. |

That look is drifting into the M45 territory. I hope Japanese cars don't over do the bulky look.

Interesting observation. The M35/45 car introduced several months ago is based on a stretched G car platform which leads me to speculate that the G36 is not a new car but rather a re-skin. I guess we will know fairly soon. |

Another thing to think about is that VQ41. If that is true, it's going to be only 5hp less than the 4.5 V8 in the M45. Either they're gonna have to up the power on the V8, or the VQ41 will be less powerful than 330hp, or maybe it's not even real. I also heard that the name of the car might become G40 or something, because of the supposed larger engine. The 350Z is supposedly now just called the Z because of the VQ41 going into it in the future and they didn't want to change the numbers with it...like 400Z...and just wanted to keep the "Z" name. That's basically all the future G-related stuff I know. Hope it wasn't too much. |

ive heard similar news concerning the engine issue. The new infiniti V6 will most likely make between 310-330 horses and similar torque numbers.
This would fall right in line against the supposed 335i which speculators say produces around 310 horses. I would also assume that the new G sedan and coupe will have new interiors, new wheels, new exteriors, more standard features, and of course better handling than the previous generation. |

flipmde786 said he never heard of more than one "exterior freshening" in a model cycle. Can you say Ford Crown Victoria. When was the Panther platform introduced? 9179, was it? <g> How about the VW "Beetle"?

Now as for the interior, I have never had any complaints about it... I have heard complaints about ALL interiors Inc the E90... everyone has an opinion... I like the interiors actually... except for the IS350, that just looked cheap to me... |

oh gosh, here we go again - another G35 vs. 3-series comparison yet again. I don't know why ppl. even compare the two brands - what's the most expensive car that Infiniti offers? The Q45 at 56K? The two brands are not even in the same league. Infiniti (Nissan) vs. Lexus (Toyota) would be a more appropriate comparison.
To the person that said they would choose a G35 over a 325i - let me tell you that my nicely equipped 325i costs significantly more than a G35. I didn't even consider buying a G35 - the same goes for the Lexus IS. Like some others said, if I was strapped for cash and didn't have the money, I probably would have gotten the G35 or the IS250. |
