Replace trim around iDrive controller?

(Full disclosure - I searched the forum and YouTube before posting this).

Does anyone have instructions to replace that rubberized trim piece around the iDrive controller?

Mine is a little scratched up. (Surprise surprise).

I found the piece I need, but no instructions to replace it.

pry upward after carefully removing the rearward trim piece with soft trim tool
The outer trim piece in question slides off the iDrive controller
I think you'll need to unplug the wiring harness from iDrive controller, it's pretty straightforward - take your time and don't break schtuff

Definitely take a look at the new piece and anywhere you see tabs, clips, screw holes, or whatever. That will tell you a lot.

And when you do this please follow up with how you went about it. I've got some scratches on mine as well. Not much but have thought for a long time about replacing it and maybe this will be the kick I need to do it.
