I've heard the 'death grip' is crazy out of proportion too, as per usual. Only Apple's marketing machine is able to just shrug it off - would have been a lot worse a lot of other companies.

So, was just an observation, sorry to mislead. I can cause signal loss by doing the death grip, but I don't hold the phone that way when on calls anyway!

bit annoying, but it seems like people who have ordered the phone online are receiving their phones first, even if they ordered it well after someone who ordered it in a store. oh well... |

Getting mine on the day was a case of being in the right place, at the right time, asking the right question and having a history of helping the guy out. Karma does work occasionally.

Hey mate, I placed it on the Saturday of the launch. Mate of mine owns one of the Optus World's in Perth and placed the order on the phone. He said it's the first set of 32GB he for in since launch. Just an upgrade of the plan I was on.
Did you get a 16 or 32GB? Apparently lot more 16s. |

Looks like they starting to trickle in. Jksgoh, did you ring the store at all? Sometimes pestering them will help you get 'prioritised'.

ordered a 16gb. ye think i will have to call them. i called them last week and they just gave me the "we dont know when they are coming" line.
I also ordered on the sat, im just hoping the guy put it through, because they rang me back 2 weeks later telling me that the guy who took my order forgot to photocopy some statements properly. then they told me to just bring in my passport, which i did ( i rang back to confirm that the passport was sufficient) and then when i got there they said they would need another bank statement! so i got a bit peed off, and the manager said i could just bring it all in when the phone comes and apparently they said it would not affect my position in the waiting list... but we will have to wait and see. |

I've been on the waiting list for two weeks. Then my mate walks into JB HiFi and comes out with TWO new iPhones on Telstra plans (same as what I want). So shop around and they're out there!
BTW using my 3G iPhone with OS4 is killing me! Bloody Apple have sabotaged the damn thing making it almost unusable.

I am not in a hurry to get a phone coz I am still on a plan. $270 penalty and 8 months to go. I put myself in a long list... Virgin 39 cap suits me as I am looking for data. 300mb will be enough I think. You reckon virgin will impose me more penalty if I cease plan with them rather than upgrade?

Jksgoh, glad you're finally on the iPhone ship too! Going to change how you feel about phones!
Although, definitely sounds like they mucked up the paperwork and probably lost your bank statements. I use to do this during uni, and only thing they ever need a bank statement for is to verify residential address. Now that you are in the system you can call Optus directly for the next upgrade. Depending on your plan and 'shouting' skills you can get a 24 month plan upgraded free in about 15-18 months. |

Fresh shipment arrived today. I got mine from JB HiFi and told the Telstra Shop to take a hike when they called to say they had one for me. The screen resolution and speed is superb!

If you go outright and have an official Apple store nearby, the wait is literally 15mins at peak times....at least it was for me.

Walked into the Telstra shop in Bourke St Melbourne last Wednesday and walked out 1/2 hour later with a phone .. just a walk in. Next day, Mrs XA did the same.
I was planning on getting it from Optus until I couldn't even sign up for one until the weekend ... strange bunch that talked themselves out of 2 phones. |
