BMW Snap in iPhone cradle GPS boost?
I know the snap in cradle will charge the iPhone and connects to the shark fin for better reception but does it act as a GPS booster as well?
Reason for asking: I have a track day coming up and want faster refresh rates. Just thought i would check before investing in an external GPS booster. Pretty sure the answer is NO but I thought i would check first.

An external booster will enhance the signal received from the GPS satellites and give you better reception in difficult areas, but the position update rate (~ 1/second for civilian GPS systems, I think) is unlikely to change. I'm not positive about this, but I used an external antenna/booster on an older system I had and the only thing that changed is that the device retained reception in areas where it had previously alerted that satellite reception had been lost. There weren't any other noticeable change.

yeah that is what i was thinking too but i was optimistic that i was wrong. it would have been a good idea for BMW to incorporate a booster into the system though. i'm going to try a new video/data logging combo next weekend at the track, so i'll see how it works first before investing in an external gps booster.
thanks for the conformation
