135i vs. 335i
Assuming both similarly equipped.
I know this has probably been talked about but I'm interested to see a comparison between the two. Specifically, I wonder how they will compare on a somewhat tight track. Since the weight difference is only about 200 lbs, I wonder if the driving experience will be very different. How much more tossable will the 135i be and will its brakes be much stronger? I think we already know that their acceleration numbers will at least be in the same ballpark, but without a big difference in handling and braking will the 135i be considered a smashing success or will it be viewed as more of a lifestyle statement compared to the 335i(forgetting about the price difference for a moment)? |

3 seconds is a very long time on a short track. I would say the difference would probably be well under 2 seconds.
Any of the following: Suspension mods, tires, LSD, or chip on the motor would make MUCH more difference (to either car) than the relatively minor weight and size differences between the 1er and 3er...

One second intervals would have been more appropriate, yes. We're talking about two cars with an identical engine, only 200 pounds weight difference, and only slightly different suspension tuning. For a 1.5 minute track, 1/2 second intervals probably would have been best, to be honest.
I've got plenty of track time. Why do you ask? |

I like what Car & Driver's is doing with VIRginia International Raceway's(VIR), Lighting Lap! Since many companies won't even send their car over to Europe to do "ring" times. They are establishing VIR times here in the US. Though, I don't like that track and think they could've chose a better track, it's still longer than a 1minute 30s lap. I suggest we move the arguement to a track that has noteable lap times and compare that. :iono: |
