128i Buyers: What options are you thinking about?
I may end up springing for the 135i, price dependent. But my planning is more in line with the 128i until prices are officially announced. So far I'm thinking about a 128i equipped with the following:
- comfort access (if you're going to have a push-button ignition, seems dumb to have to insert the fob in the slot) - iPod/USB adapter (this feature will be a given in 2-3 years anyway, and CD players will almost be a thing of the past) - Cold Weather Package (sometimes a standard feature for the Canadian market, anyway) - Sport Package (Sport seats, sport suspension, shadowline trim, sport steering wheel) - Metallic Paint is a possibility, but dependent on closer inspection of the color choices

At least Premium, Sport, xenon, and metallic paint. I wouldn't personally go any more stripper than that on an all-around daily driver that needs to be comfortable and stylish.
Beyond that it depends on price. A fully dressed 128i would probably put you right around base 135i price. |

I'm thinking 128i with standard leatherette, heated seats (maybe power seats), xenon headlights, Ipod/usb, and maybe the sports package.
I might consider premium and comfort access, but without knowing pricing, it's hard to say. Heck, if this thing isn't much cheaper than a 3-series, I might not get a 1-series at all (or just wait a few years for a CPO one). |

Sports pack, Xenon, and MAYBE premium audio.
By butt will just have to make do with a cold leatherette seat. My hand will still have to turn the key and adjust seat position. Oh, and I'm not buying one until at least they bring in direct injection. |

Technology stuff...
comfort access, navigation, HD radio. You gotta have xenons too. Cold weather package is a good choice too, after all Al Gore said that global warming might paradoxically end up in an ice age. |

But in all seriousness, I'll probably go with the following: Sparkling Graphite Xenon Sport Package Aero Kit Short throw (if available) 264 rims (if they will fit) |

Ya, I'm thinking about xenons. But it's more of an aesthetic thing for me.
I'm a little bit everywhere on color. The Montego Blue looks really nice and I could go for it, but I've never really been a "blue car" guy... I'm always partial to jet black, but I like the subtleties of this car, and the black hides them. The reds really suit the 1er, so the two reds are leading the way, but I'll have to see Sedona red in person before choosing...

At this price point you need xenons (they are standard on a $22k GTI!) and as the OP said, comfort access and iPod/USB should be standard too. So make mine a:
Black 128i with taupe leatherette and grey wood. -Sport Package -Xenons -Comfort Access -iPod/USB In addition if the price is right I might consider adding bluetooth and park dist. control. (my guess is a 128i with sport and xenons would be 29,995. adding ipod and comfort would be like 30,795 and then i could consider BT and PDC and hit 32.) As far as accessories i love the 263 style wheels and maybe piano black interior trim if they offer those here. Oh and a roofrack for bikes would be nice. |

Woah good luck! I would guess the 135 starts at 33,000. add nav and sport and youre already going to be at 36000 and you need it to be 36300 before TTL so the ipod/hd radio/convenience(?)/cold weather/leather better be free!

Automatic (only because I am not the only one who's driving)
LeMans Blue (but it won't be available in the US) Nothing else, I want the superb handling, silky-smooth 6 cylinder and FR, this is not a cadie or buick, so no sense to "load it up" |

- bluetooth w/ bmw assist (pretty much a must if you own a cell phone, if you ask me)
- comfort access (neat feature that I think I will really appreciate over a period of time) - heated seats (cleveland winters are long and cold) - navi/idrive (if I am spending 30+K, I may as well spend an extra $2 and get technology that will keep me occupied for a few years; also good for resale value) - ipod connector (a must for me since I carry one around most of the time) - sparkling graphite (i hate the idea of paying extra $ for paint but the three basic colors don't really inspire me) |

And you can get GPS and interactive maps on a Blackberry now, let alone what iPhone and other devices are going to be offering in the next few years... And Garmin GPS systems are a dime a dozen and are transportable... I think Navi as a dedicated in-car feature will go the way of the 8-track within a decade. That's my little rant on Navi, knowing full well that it's still a pretty popular option...

Black Sapphire Metallic Paint Sport Package Cold Weather Package If I need a package for the auxilliary input for the stereo, I'd get that too. Don't care about leather/leatherette/convenience, etc. |
